Give Top box

Hi!

Is anyone using a Givi topbox on their GS? I have a 12 plate TC model and already have a Givi topbox which I want to use.

Any thoughts on the Givi mounting system as opposed to the SW Motech, is anyone using either?

A mate of mine uses a big Givi top box on his GS - bought the Givi rack adaptor thing cheap off Ebay. Looks good and seems sturdy enough.

I'm leaning towards the SW Motech option at the mo as I already have an adaptor plate. More expensive but it looks prettier!!!

The Givi monokey mount come in alu for the GS.

This for the GSA but there is a metal solution for the GS as well.

SW Motech solution

I use the SW Motech plate with Givi boxes on and it works great. It looks nice too.
I already had a lot of Givi boxes including a large and small Givi Trekker, both of which look decent as a top box.

The cool part is when I go camping and want to use a huge soft bag mounted along the bag seat, I can mount it low.
I remove the SW-Motech plate for the Givi, I take off the back seat, and I have a reasonably flat area a few inches lower than it would otherwise have been.

I recommend it.

I use the Givi box with the Givi plate on my 08. No problems with the mounting/stability. On my previous 06 I had the BMW box and I must say I find the Givi box way better - waterproof and holds 2 lids.

If you're mounting a Givi adapter plate on a GS (not GSA) is there any issue over the strength of the current plastic rack? The adapter plate for the BMW Vario top box includes two rear support stays but I've not seen any Givi adapter plates that include this feature - I'm thinking about changing from a Vario box to a Givi Outback and would probably use the Altrider plate with Givi Monokey fittings, but the strength of the BMW rack might be an issue?

Fitted this to my 2007 GSA this morning. Very sturdy bit of kit and is only a 15 minute job.

I followed a rider on a GS with a Vario top box but no stays, it moved up and down a lot, the stays do work.

Strangely enough the adventure rack bolts the the plastic rack at the side case lugs. The Adv case doesn't bounce but it's not exactly huge.

Have Givi bought that in from whoever makes BMW luggage for Touratech? The stainless tie-downs look identical and black corners an upgrade from plain BMW version.

Who manufactures it?

My GS is TC 2012 so I asume that would'nt fit it anyway. Look well made tho and better than the Givi version
