Givi adaptor plate

If you're going for the aluminium SRA5108, as I did, there are two things you might want to be aware of
1. It has a maximum load capacity of 6kg. Givi UK have told me this is the maximum load that can be carried inside any case fitted to the rack, but this is not clear in the supplied literature.
2. I have a Givi E52 Maxia top case. It sits very close to the pillion seat when mounted on the SRA5108 making the pillion's seating position very cramped. I don't know if other models of Givi top boxes have the same problem on the SRA5108. I wish I'd purchased the SW Motech Adventure rack which appears to have alternative positions for the Givi top box mounting pins which look like they would give the million seat a bit more room if needed.

Thanks for the info, i never carry a pillion, indeed im not insured to do so. As for the weight, im sure they would specify a lower weight to cover themselves, in any case i dont think im much over if ever. I use a Givi V47 top box

Despite my comments it's not a bad bit of kit and has done its job for me well so far. However, if/when I plan a long trip on my 1250GS with a pillion I will replace it with the SW Motech Adventure rack for the GS

:beerjug::beerjug::beerjug::beerjug::beerjug::beerjug: I had the exact same one on my previous 13 plate GSA and it took all sorts of torture and was fine. :green gri

I have the 5108, just did 5000km of Morroco "roads" with a 48l Kappa topbox (similar to givi´s 42l aluminium one), a enduristan tornado 2 L straped on top of it and returned with no problems and no need to retighten anything, so, as far as I´m concerned the 6kg maximum load is just legal talk :barf

I'm inclined to agree with you both about the 6kg being "legal talk". I just thought I'd mention before Delboy spent his money in case it might be an issue for him. I use my bike for some deliveries for a charity. They need to know the SWL of the bike's rack presumably because they can't be seen to be asking their riders to overload their bikes.
