I am 191 cm long and have a 2012 GS standard. I bought the Givi Airflow 330 but suffered from head shakling too much in every position. Then I installed the Nippy Norman winglets which clearly decreased the shaking but not 100 %. Lately I have left the upper part of the Givi home. I only use the lower part in its most backward position plus the winglets: No buffeting, no head shaking. The wind is turbulent and clean and the wind noise is easily suppressed by ear plugs. This kombination is ugly as hell but so am I . Of course the wind protection of the head and shoulders is not perfect. On very cold weather I add the upper part of the Givi.

What I am hoping to achieve is ear-plug-free riding so that I can hear the instructions from my Garmin and the bangin' toons The Wundelrich deflector on the standard screen raises the airflow just enough to clear my visor but leaves terrible, noisy, turbulence across the top of my lid.

The Touratech rectangular spoiler on the 2" taller Winderlich screen still caused noise on top of my helmet. Even bigger issue was rain on visor and misting up.
I also get the same issue on the Givi but it's still considerably better than the plain screen styles. But then I'm only 5' 8"
Noise is a given. If not wind it's engine and other traffic. I'm sure helmets could do a lot more to reduce noise but then riders want through flow ventilation.
Yet again when can we have electronic active noise suppression in crash helmets?

When I'm out of the airflow, i.e. if I adopt a more 'prone' position across the tank, all my helmets are silent and the mechanical noises are only mildly irritating/worrying. I'd quite happily tolerate them when sitting in a normal riding position if I it wasn't for the wind roar.

It sounds like you need to raise the 330 and tilt it back. That puts back edge closer to riders head.
Put it on full height at back then gaffa tape some thin plywood to the front so the screen sits back from the front mounts and leans towards rider. Experiment to find the best angle. Then use Tobinators or have an even longer support made.
Another issue can be how the air funnels around shoulders and neck. Leaning forwards changes that dynamic.
My old Hein Gericke all purpose is noisy with some helmets. My thick winter Ixon is ok. Leathers & HG Taureg summer suit are the least noisy.

GIVI 330 Screen

I fitted this to my '08 GS yesterday and what a difference from the standard screen. With the bottom part at its lowest setting and the sliding top part just over half way up all I hear is the engine using a Nolon 104 Evo helmet. I'm 6' 1" and my standard seat is on the lower setting. I'm having a blast up to the Colne Bike Festival this weekend so it'll have a decent test.

I've found that in heavy rain the lack of wind blast means I end up having to lean quite a bit to clear my visor I'm going to try lowering the top section next time it rains

Try it on max height at the screw adjusters and minimum on the sliding screen. I suspect the longer "tunnel" gives better protection from motorway turbulence.

I found the 330 on my GS was a bit better than the stock screen...however, when I added GSA type winglets it improved things markedly....probably the best set up I have had on a bike....including a short brush with an RT.

On my GSA TC I have a stock screen with an MRA X screen....nearly as good. No buffeting (unless following a van at motorway speeds) visor up at any speed....fab.

I still have an MRA spoiler. It was crap on their Diversion 900 flip screen but marginally better when I chopped off the flip.
I've never tried it on the Beemer. Drilling the screen was a step too far.

You don't have to drill the screen. I have clamps that slide on....all very easy.

TBH I thought the MRA idea was great but really not well executed so didn't investigate.
