Givi Airflow Screen review

I have seen no change in mpg but the other night went fast enough will full luggage to really feel the drag. AF330 was at lowest level, yet wind was just brushing top of my helmet. At lower speeds I moved the screen up but had to put it back down because rain came and there was so little draught my visor was steaming up.

last night blasting from dover top london loaded up on my own and going at around 85/90 i could really feel the front almost going light now and again. the trees were'nt moving so there wasn't too much wind (obv the cars etc on mw ay make enough turbulence - It felt as if my bike was lurching forward then hitting a air pocket, then lurching. At legal speeds, great and quiet etc but the higher speeds. The wind/pressure build up on the front was noticeable and made the front feel vague at times. My opinions etc. I will keep it, and as great as it is to reduce buffeting at high speeds, it creates a front pressure wave I think...I still had visor up at those speeds and could here music, but there was a faint weave now and again. Anyone else feel this?

No strange handling with mine other than a very slight sway almost certainly luggage induced at private road speeds of course. I have tobinators to lift the front about 1.5" up and back. Wunderlich's shorter loop style front brackets would be just as good.

IAt high speeds with the upper screen set high there is a lot of flexing. I prefer the screen set low for fast riding because the speed seems to throw air more upwards than at lower speeds.

I might refit my GSA screen support, but on the whole the Givi gives much better protection than the standard or large aftermarket screens.

i did 115mph :augie on my way back from the coast last week. stable all the way, although i have got 17" r1200rt wheels on my bike which gives a more stable feel on the front at speed.

Screen support

I guess I'm being pretty stupid but I just can't figure out how to fit the vertical supports to the screen from. it's got me beat and it's frustrating.

If anyone can help, post photos and/or link me to decent instructions I'd be very grateful.

I've got a 2009 1200GS and bought the screen secondhand from a guy who couldn't work out the fitting either.

Many thanks

throw givi instructions in bin first!

1. hold the screen in front of you as if you were on the bike
2. thread upright bracket(s) through the slots (the curve of the bracket should be towards the front with the top angled part pointing inwards)
3. screw angled tabs of brackets to top holes of screen using large plastic washers and givi screws.
4. undo the bmw screen adjusters.
5. fit screen to bmw bracket (lower holes on screen).
6. refit bmw adjusters through side of screen/supports

takes a bit of working out. you're not alone.

Another silly Question

Been following all the comments on this thread, I have a Triple Black with
GSA screen and BMW Sat Nav, current screen fits to Sat Nav bracket, looked at all the pics but cannot see how this supported when an Airflow is fitted.

No answers on postcards please !!!!!

I bought a new screen because I knocked my bike into a fence and bent the screen brackets. :(

The Givi works fine without the adventure screen support. High speeds with the upper part set high do cause the screen to flex. However at those same high speeds the upper screen doesn't need to be set high as the deflected air is forced up higher than at lower speeds.

The Adv support should fit (with some drilling) but as mine is bent, I cant give any instructions. The Givi would certainly need some more holes drilling. Its also well worth using Wunderlich adjustable front screen brackets or Tobinators. I have the latter but TBH they are really too long for what I need.

Thanks for the reply simplysounds.
The photo really helps.
It appear from your photo that the supports I have just don't fit my bike.
I have a GS and if the supports are also common to the GSA in the photo then the ones I have are for something else. When fitted at the screen end the span is too wide to fit to the adjusters.
I think I can go back to my idea of sawing, grinding, drilling and bending to make them fit or run without the supports.
I made a 650 miles round trip last weekend and used the screen without the supports, half the journey was in the rain.
The screen did flex proportional to the height. The screen performed well though I stil have some buffeting, particularly on motorways when behind other vehicles. Fining tuning I think. What was good was the fact I could have my visor cracked open to prevent misting and it stayed open. With the stock screen the visor always closed once over 60.
I will try to modify the supports perhaps over the bank holiday.

My only problem is that the stickers started to peel after a couple of thousand miles so I have pulled them off. Anyone got any ideas how to get the remaining glue off without scratching the screen!

WD40......brilliant for cleaning adhesive / paint etc off all sorts of surfaces without causing damage.

The Givi metal support strips have to be the right way around then the standard BMW screen screws will fit. I put a small bend in the bottom end 10 or 15 degrees to let the screws slip through more easily.

I've not yet fitted the adv rear support but TBH it can't be *that* hard to do.
