I have the full set of Vario's. I find the top box to small, as I'm used to a box that can take two lids, or one and all my other junk.

Off on a Euro jolly later this year, and I'm thinking of getting the Givi Trekker Outback 58ltr top box.

Anyone have this set up ?............... I've been looking for a picture of this set up on a 2014 GS to see if the top box looks ok in comparison with panniers, but there just doesn't seem to be one.

Cheers for any replies.

I use a V47 and it's just large enough for two lids :thumb2 There's less space for a pillion thought as it sits slightly further forward than the Vario case - it's a good job I lost 4 stone last year :P

Here's a Trecker on my GS. I think 46ltr and just takes 2 helmets. Pleased with it though do not like not being able to leave it unlocked.

Speaking as someone for whom the weight of cargo expands proportionate to the space available, I would tend to avoid overly large topboxes unless you only intend to be able to stash a couple of helmets in there. Although my Givi box remained firmly fixed to the rack on the back of the bike, I did manage to break the supports through overloading the box.

That's why I stuck with the smaller 47 litre box as the weight's in the wrong place and spoils the handling

I did that on my 07 GS broke while in Austria:blast held it in place with cable ties till we got home, worked a treat:clap

The main weight will be in the panniers when touring. The top box is only for gloves, visor cleaning kit, camera, and somewhere to stash my helmet and jacket while off the bike. So the weight wil be as low as I can get it.
