Givi convertable helmet- X.01.....seen it?

Givi must have lost lots of sales by now, the hemet looks good IMO:hide, but there is NO WAY I would buy a helmet mail order without either trying it for fit, or examining the quality.

I have to say tho, I know it's got a fiddly clippy chin bar, but I'm still probably going to get another Schuberth J1. Quiet, comfy and well made. Only reason I need a new one is I've dropped this one a few times.
:blast

i noticed all the F1 Ferrari pit crew were wearing J1 helmets:cool:

handy for them if they went to work on their bikes:augie

Limited edition version as well :augie

It's omologation is ECE ONU 2205, how does that compare with what used to be British Standard/Kite Mark/Gold rating?

Exxakkerly.......I can't understand why they haven't pushed the range out into places like Gericke- the brand is well known and so many shops have accounts with tem 'cos of the rack systems :nenau

And Hein Gericke are listed as stockists on Givi's Website, wonder if they could get one in?

That's just :ymca

Being an emasculated pc orientated man of the new millenium, I couldn't possibly comment :D

Oh, alright. It's a bit 1970's Battlestar Galactica :ymca

Have just ordered the Givi Marc.....I just pulled my Twat-X out of the cupboard under the stairs and the bloody lining's gone all mank and mouldy- I have pretty low standards but no, that's a step too far even for me :D

Will post up a review when it arrives :thumb2

Linda (:bow Mrs Og :augie) just got an open face Givi with the mesh vents on the top.
the quality of constuction, lining etc = Very Good. :thumb2 i reckon you wont be disappointed. :)

Fanum,
I look forward to your review of this helmet. Also be interesting to see how mail order purchase works regarding sizing!

Fanum,

maybe he's using the tried and tested Irish method;

you go into a local Stealers and try it on (just the helmet dear - not "trying on" anything else ;)).
suss correct size / thank "assistant" and depart, swearing blind you'll be back to purchase.

having noted correct size - now order online from somewhere that does not require a pound of flesh and remortgaging to afford.

sorted.

:D

Has he actually tried one on yet? I didn't think he had, I might be wrong, but I thought he is buying it blind?

dunno - bit silly if he's not tried one on his noggin before parting with money. :nenau

aw well - i'll keep an eye on the "Items for sale" section*.
it may show up in there if he's fecked up the sizing. :D

as for buying it blind - of course! have you looked at the colour scheme?
he's colour blind at least!

:hide

*did i mention i'm selling a Tour X
:augie

It hasn't arrived yet.....I'm hoping it will today.

ANd yes, I'm buying it blind as it were......I've ordered the XL, 61...that's what all my other lids have been......I've also got an 'averaged' shaped head I guess,,,I've worn a Tour-x for a couple of years and I've worn a Shoei with no discomfort, which isn't supposed to happen.......

I also phoned the dealer (DKONline) and made sure I could send it back if it didn't fit....

We'll see.....It looks like such a good idea that I reckon it's worth a go blind......

Watch this space :)

The Honda dealer in Darlington has them in stock. They look good & are comfortable, but I wasn't too keen on the chin strap fastening, seemed a bit plasticky, more like a cycling helmet than a motorbike helmet IMHO.

As I'm heading to the South of France in August, I'm keen to get a good air-flowing helmet and this Givi looks good, but no-one seems to stock 'em locally - not Gericke, Infinity, Balderston's, Taz, no-one - and Fanum doesn't appear to have reviewed it. So, like others, I'm reluctant to buy online without being able to try it first.

Any other helmets that people would recommend as being great summer helmets? Cheers.

I haven't done a full write up specifically on it, but I have mentioned it in several threads.......it's a great lid and apart from the service from the company I got it from, I'm very pleased with it:thumb

I wore it on a three weeker last year, starting from the day I took delivery (probably not a sensible thing to have done TBH but it worked out fine)

It's comfy and light and not too noisy, the venting works really well and it's dry in the winter full-faced configuration, great in the off-road/vented configuration and I use it mainky in the jet configuration in Morocco when I'm leading rides and I need to be able to talk to people urgently.

Highly recommended.......If I lost mine now, I'd be getting another tomorrow :thumb2

The only criticism I have of it is that the zip on the faux-leather pouch that the alternative chin guard is kept in is crap and failed immediately, but that might just be that particular one :nenau

I like it, a lot.

And a bloody good price too :thumb2
