Hi

We have Metal Mule luggage on the GS, unfortunately the topbox does not have a backrest and this is causing domestic issues:blast

We had the BMW Vario case with backrest but the lack of space made me get rid and now we have the domestic issue:blast:blast

Having looked at the Givi site i am unable to fathom whether the E55 case and this bracket would allow the MM panniers to open freely

If this will fit life will be good again:thumb2:thumb2

Please can anyone let me know or post a picture if you have the same setup?

For what it's worth I've been exploring this route, wanted to know if Trax panniers would fit with my Givi V46 top box on my 07GS using the same base as the one you are looking at - I have Givi side panniers. That aside I looked at GSA panniers and almost went down this route until Chap at Bahnstormers pointed out that the top box is wide enough to stop the GSA panniers opening up fully. So provided your panniers holders will marry up with the Givi top box holder the issue is clearance. I went away disappointed until I figured I could just take the top box off each time? It's a bit of a drag but a sort of solution. See my earlier thread (marrying trax panniers with Givi top box) if you want pictures of how the top box holder looks on the bike. Hope this helps?

This doesn't answer your question directly but I have balanced MM panniers fitted and a Givi V46 topbox....There's at least 30mm clearance between the pannier lid and topbox at the closest point when opening, how much wider than a V46 is an E55???

Hi Tonedef, what do you mean by 'balanced' panniers - as in weight? - the same size each side? Would be interested in a pic of your set-up.

The balanced panniers are where you have two the same size but it does mean you also need a slim exhaust to get the left pannier frame tighter against the bike. Metal Mule make their own exhaust system for this but I bought mine from Keihan through Sgt Bilko of this parish and it works a treat

Here's a couple of pics, as I said before when you swing the lid open the closest it comes to the box is about 30mm.

Thanks for the pictures, do you have the part number of the mount?

Is that the Givi mount?

It's the SR689 but modified a bit to fit the box about 50mm further back cos SWMBO felt a bit pushed forwards with it in the standard location :nenau
