Hi,
Hope someone can help me.
I have a set of Givi E360 panniers and want to fit them to my 1150 GSA.
Not having owned a GSA before does anyone know if these will be symmetrical when fitted?
Might be a dumb question but I am dumb
Dennis

Hi Dennis
No they won't be symetrical-frame is wider on exhaust side. Only really noticeable from rear of bike though! If you get hold of next size up pannier for the "off side" it'll look more balenced, though you won't notice any difference riding the bike.
Hope this helps

I originally had a full set of Givis on my last-but-one 1100. I needed the universal wing rack, IIRC though that might've been for my previous K100RS, which was a pain to line up, but I think they do a specific one for the 1150.

I had two 45's and a 36; 36 on the zaust side, 45 on t'other and 45 up top. Perfectly symmetrical (On an asymmetrical GS???), made for great capacity but awkward not being top loading. Still good though. Now Zega enabled with 45 Givi up top whenever not using Ortleib.

Hi Ian and Cogs.
Ta for your help.
I already have an E52 Maxia on the top so will have to put up with the E360's being slightly outta line I suppose as long as it doesn't effect the ride. I'll only have them on when touring anyway.
Cheers though

Of Course it will affect the Ride. It may just bring it to an untimely stop.
The Exhaust side Pannier will be siting out like a Sore thumb ! .
Caution in the Extreme is Required when riding aless than perfect set up like this.
A lota Folk go to a Lota Trouble and expence to Keep their luggage
Symetrical for a reason . Think For the 1150 89CM Fitted

You do of course need to be cautious with any system and to that end I keep panniers near to same weight loaded anyway. I don't get any problems with aerodynamics from the panniers - the GS can manage that all by itself on a bad day!
If your using a Givi set up the exhaust side is always going to stick out as the frames designed that way. The issue is that the other side doesn't stick out as much if using same size cases or does (and thus appears more symetrical) with a larger one on the "off side". Either way with the E360 cases they shouldn't stick out like a sore thumb. However, each to their own.

Ok........wasn't expecting to get a telling off.......or cause such controversy - lol Although all advice is good

I had a set of Givi's on my 1100GS but I used a 36l on the exhaust side and a 45l on the other side to even things up.

When I first got my GS in 03 I fitted this set up because I already had the boxes, but I didn't keep them long mainly because the Givi tubular mounting brackets rusted up so badly.

I sold the lot off and bought a set of rails off here and some slightly damaged BMW system panniers off e bay,in the end it only cost me another £40 or so.

One thing I have noticed is that the fuel consumption is slightly better with the system panniers must be more aerodynamic.

The best set up IMHO is with a stubby pipe and full sized left-hand pannier off an RT, there are bigger systems, but then you just take too much.

I didn't have any handling problems with the Givi's fitted and never clouted anything either.

I just bought a set of E45 givi panniers from Rawly on this forum. Didn't like the way they sat on the bike so took bike & Givi frame to local fabricator & he adjusted the frame, brought in the left hand frame to match the left, so it sat even on the bike. I have a stubby fitted so doing this mod & carrying a full size pannier isn't a problem.

I could never get my Givi frames to fit with the standard pipe.
I tried a set of ARD cases before the Givi's, superbly built boxes but FERKIN heavy ! Sold them on and bought the Givi's thought the Givi made the front end light especially under acceleration. So went back to the system panniers.
Plan now to fit a lower pipe and a full size left pannier.

It should say brought in the left hand side to match the right. :blast

Just had a look around the Givi web site, they've cut back on there product range only listing two top boxes and the E21 E41 and V35, the 35's look sexy

For what it's worth, I've got Givis on my 1100. It had a rear carrier fitted when I got it, and I wanted to add paniers. The frames I got were from an 1100R, so don't fit properly without a bit of fiddling. But...because they fit to the carrier frame by two studs, each about three inches long, they stick out proud of the bike, and the nearside clears the exhaust. Result is I now have an E52 Maxia each side, (plus a third for top box) and it's perfectly symetrical. I've just got to remember that i'm about two-thirds te width of a car when I'm filtering...

Might be worth a nose around for something thatcould be made to fit an 1150....
