Possibly should have posted in the tec' section........:nenau

I have a Givi SR684 rack fitted to my 1200. Looking from the rear, I need a new left hand support......the screw which holds the top plate to the support, has sheared off in the support (No, not overloaded. Yes, may drill/retap).....I think that a thrash 'round Scottish roads was too much for it

Givi U.K. do not supply spares. Anyone know where I can get this part?

I believe that this rack has now been updated to the SR689......Looks like I may be buying one.......

This is a common problem:

If you can get the remains of the end of the bolt out of the end of the frame then just get a long bolt with the same thread from a hardware store.

The new Givi rack design does not use the same mount but instead relaces the OEM rack/grab rail unit

Comparison of old and new:

BTW the old style rack on the rear bike did suffer from the same problem that you describe and after some fun and games with a bolt extractor and a tap and die set we managed to re-attach it with a bolt from a hardware store - the owner will be replacing with the new style rack soon.

I know about the problem to which you are referring, but mine is different.....Please re read my thread......:)

It's not the bolt into the frame that has sheared (common problem....mine are both fine) It's the countersunk machine screw that screws vertically down into the left hand support strut.....Think about the one that 'goes' then It's the one at the other end of that support strut.......

Not really sure if this makes any sense at all........:D

Ahh Ooops - guess that might be a new one and may not be quite so easy to fix - unless you can find someonw who had the common issue and still has the remains of his rack...

Decided to just buy the new 'improved' version....like the one on the front 'bike in your pic'. I've lost all faith in the original version......

Thanks for the feedback........:thumb2
