Givi tank lock ring

I want to fit my Givi tank bag to my new GS. On my Z1000SX there were collars/ spacers that fitted over the bolts that held the tank ring. Givi tell me that on the GS the ring rests on the tank directly. Bit concerned that the tank filler will get scuffed. Has anyone fitted a Givi bag and perhaps put some foam insulation tape under the ring just to be on the safe side?

I haven't bothered with any spacers.

I just bolted mine down direct. It won't scuff if it's tight enough not to move.

I just bolted my one down I took off my Multistrada, it is a plastic ring so I was not worried. I am more worried that I have a Ducati Labelled Tank bag, (it is a givi one) on my GS

I fitted a Givi tank bag (think it's the 308) and the fitting ring on my s1000xr. Had it in place for over 8000 miles and when I took it off to put it on my new GS Rallye the tank filler ring it fits to was totally unmarked. Works well on both bikes. Recommended.

A couple of the comments have suggested that the tank rings have been moved between different bikes. Does that mean that they are not specific to a particular bike as suggested in the adverts?

Not quite. Its just thst some bikes have the same size filler ring and fixing screw spacing so the same tank-bag ring fits.

The plastic ring for my SX has cut outs for the bolts that will fit my GS. As I need 4 bolts in different positions for the GS cf 3 for the SX I needed a new metal horseshoe and bolts.
