I have just taken ownership of a fairly new 2012 GS and traded in my 2004 GS. As the tank bag from my previous bike does not fit the new one, I have purchased a GiVi Tanklock Endure bag and locking ring from Nippy Normans, fitted the tank ring and noticed quite a bit of play in the tank filler cap. The assembly of the tank ring and filler cap was extremely easy and went together well - everything lines up perfectly and is seated correctly on the petrol tank. My concern is that when the petrol filler cap is locked shut, it does not sit tightly in the filler tube and moves from side to side and up and down a little. It rattles about in the filler tube by about 3mm. I am not confident that the petrol cap is actually sealing the petrol filler point adequately and that there is a chance that petrol could escape or evaporate from the tank if this is the case. This doesn’t seem quite right and I would be grateful to hear if anyone else has served this and whether I am worrying unnecessarily. As this is my first time with the newer version of the GS, it might be that this is 'normal'.
Thank you. Chris
