Givi Top Box - Brake Light fitment

Has anyone fitted a Givi Top Box and hooked up the brake lights to a 1200 with the Canbus wiring system yet? I contacted my local BMW dealer who said they hadn't fitted one and didn't think it could be done without it interfering with the wiring system

They are worried that the Brake Light Failure indicator would be tiggered by the resistance change.

I have not fitted a Givi Light to mine - partly for same reason, but mainly because when I had the light fitted on my F650CS, I found that the contacts between case and rack and between bottom of case and top of case were very cheap and the light only worked intermittently - so decided that it was NOT money well spent.

Surely if you wired it in with a relay, it shouldn't upset the canbus???

You see that's the technology I don't understand, although I know how a relay works. I have also been told that placing a resistor(s) in line would also prevent problems with the canbus system.
