For anyone concerned about connecting additional tail or stop lights into the R1200GS, I managed to successfully connect the stop (brake) lights in my Givi top box.
I used the Touratech TPS15 Power Module (see separate post & pic 1) to provide 12V power, and a standard Bosch relay (pic 3). Rather than splice into the GS stop light wires, I made a piggyback (pic 2). Disconnect the GS stop light connector (female spade), connect to the male spade (blue in the pic), and connect the piggyback (red in the pic) female spade to the GS stop light. The other wire is the active connection to the relay. Use the same arrangement for the ground wire and connect to the relay.
If you use a Bosch relay like I did, the connections are:
30 – input 12V power (positive side of TPS15)
85 – ground connection for trigger device, i.e. stop light
86 – positive connection for trigger device, i.e. stop light
87 – output when relay is energized, positive connection to Givi stop light
The Givi stop light ground connects directly to the TPS15 ground (if used).
I think that other relay brands use a different numbering connection.

That would be nice... Would it work without the TPS15 ?

I almost got bumped from behind a few minutes ago and I guess I need to be more visible..

I fitted mine using piggybacks to the stop light wiring to "see if they're any good" about 2k miles ago. They're fine :D

Actually, truth be told I'd intended to sort that and some other things (spotlight wiring for one) this morning, but I was somewhat distracted by a mates offer of a run 'round Co. Down :o

So it would appear that if you haven't the bits and/or knowledge for fitting relays etc., they're fine without them. :bounce1

All that said, you're always better off using relays for this kind of thing.
