Hi,

I'm shopping around for the luggage system for my new bike - R1200GS TE.
I dont want to go down the Vario route as I had them on F800GS and didnt like the quality, side-loading, etc.
I know there are some people who successfully installed 2014 GSA topcase and panniers on standard R1200GS LC.

However, recently I stumbled across GIVI TREKKER OUTBACK system, which looks a lot like GSA BMW aluminium system and its 20% cheaper.
Apart from additional key, can anyone comment on quality of GIVI vs BMW ?

Was just looking at these today.

I thought they looked pretty good. I can't compare them against any other aluminium panniers yet, as I have only just started looking myself.

One thing I wasn't overly impressed with was the movement in the locking mechanism. If you don't line it up right, the lid will not close / lock, but that was probably just me and my first attempts.

Here is another thread; http://www.ukgser.com/forums/showth...utback-Luggage?highlight=givi+trekker+outback

I do like the idea of a 58ltr top box................. But how does it all look when fitted to the bike ?

If you go down this route, can you post some pic's up please.

Used them on my KTM this year with no problems at all, the locks will strip down and alter to 1 key by swapping the discs round with some planning.
There are now matching top boxes available now also.
With the problems people on this site have been having with the availability and barrels pulling out I would have thought these were worth consideration.

Hi if you read a post on the givi 'd up a few posts down you'll see I've just bought the full givi set for my GSA Te I'm not far from you and I've got both the bmw ones on my other gs if you wanted to pop round and compare them personally I think the givi ones are pukka ! :-)

I've got the smaller outback top case and went for that over the BMW one as its bigger. Love the BMW side Ali panniers tho. The left hand one is cut out to fit around the exhaust where as the out backs stand proud of the exhaust

The givi right side "exhaust" does sit proud but even if you go 37 47 , the bmw is smaller tho does flair at the top but for what is worth you don't get much in it or use out of it, they are both pretty quick to install and remove the givi ones have bigger and better tie down loops on the lids and they do some pretty smart bags that go on top of the lids should you want more storage, they also have they're own variety of bottles and cages to attach like the touratec ones, I've got both sets givi and bmw they're both very good at what they do,

I've got the black coated outbacks and in my humble option, are much better quality than the BMW ones I've had before and apart from looking better, the black ones should be much more corrosion resistant and as they are coated inside as well, no alloy powder dust transfer!

Hi Rob, thanks for your offer, I will pop around after New Year to have a look.

Thanks
Jake

I very nearly pulled the trigger for givi out backs ,cheapest i found was from motostorm.it .
In the end I went for holan nomada s mainly because of the cut out for the exhaust
And I've got to say I've been very impressed with the quality :bounce1

I have some Nomads for sale. Excellent unmarked condition. If interested ping me.

Givi outbacks came with my GSA as a freebee and I brought a BM top box off the net then had to modify the bracket to fit my bike because I didn't read the ad properly.

Have you considered Bumot? , I have them on my GSLC, great build quality and excellent price. My fitting thread is on here.

I have SW Motech ALU cases, they are ok as the pannier frame removes quickly giving me a sports bike look. I did not like the SW Motech ALU top box as it is only 38 litres. I went with the Givi Outback 42L ALU in black, great box. Wondering if I should have gone for the 58L now, guess you need both lol.
