howdy from Tabarjal, 130kms from jordan border. Taking a week touring in jordan, insh'allah. 1150kms from riyadh today, 0400h to 1430h incl 350km new Nejd road Ha'il to Jouf no shop or gas. Kept below 120, had enough in tank. Big empty virgin desert, now with new road and soon new railway. Bike passed 75000kms on the way. Tomorrow hit border, hopefully in Ajlun for the day, Amman Thursday, etc.

Hi from tent 32 in bait ali camp at wadi rum. Last night of great week in Jordan. Today was in Kerak, dead sea -400m, Shobak castle, +1550m. Passed Petra, too crowded. Next time, will be there at dawn. Heading for Ha'il tomorrow, Riyadh next day. Will do the story and photies asap. Bin

You're right. Well worth getting there even before dawn and the official opening time (you can sneak in). Watching the sun come up is pure magic:)

Looking forward to the pics, particularly of Wadi Rum, I hope.

Hi,

Just back from a week trip to Jordan and back on the bike. Quite a hike to get there and back, so out of total 4200kms, 2600kms was just going and coming.

Very interesting, towns horrible but outside in the countryside, it is very pleasant. The historical aspects are fascinating, from earliest man, Romans, Christian, Islamic, Crusades, Mamlukes, Ottomans, to name but a few. The more recent history is rather sad, and there are large numbers of men standing around in all towns, looking for work. Refugees from Palestine, Iraq all have semi-swamped Jordan over the last 50 years.

I had read up as much as I could beforehand, and that was a big help to getting the best out of it.

Hope to write a bit about it and sort out the photos during my holiday at home, next week.

Bin
