Gloves - as hard as boots to buy online

I struggle to buy boots online that fit me, I really need to be in a shop with a good selection to try on to find a good fit.

Gloves are increasingly the same it seems. I’ve recently bought a pair of BKS summer gloves then a pair of Richa adventure gloves, both the correct size according to their measurements and neither is anywhere close. Either my hands grow whenever I take gloves out the bag or sizing isn’t as accurate as it used to be, even taking initial wearing into account.

So, they are now added to the category of only buy in a shop.

Finger / thumb length plus palm width mean only success I have had is in shops. I did buy a pair of Apollos off here , but only after a sneaky try on for size in a shop. 😎🧤🧤
 
I’d say boots are easier. I go a size up on bike boots.

On the other hand (🤣) I spent 20 minutes going between 2 sizes on the Dianese stand in the NEC for a glove, went away, came back, spent another 10 minutes and then made a purchase.
 
Not many real shops near here so the free returns from Sportsbikeshop is useful if you need something in a hurry due to something going wonky. My most recent glove purchase was to try some Halvarssons gloves recommended here. I took a slight deviation into Gloucester to Infinity when heading to Plymouth for a ferry. Tried said glove which fitted nicely and they price matched an online price so they got a sale. I also took the opportunity to try a few helmets to gauge fitting, so I have a shortlist for future replacements. I will try to buy in a real shop but at least I can contact them to request a price match in my preferred size and colour as I already have the knowledge.
 
Boots are easy.... Altberg 👍

Helmet....I go to the NEC show every few years so I can try as ll the likely models under one roof

Gloves are harder.... Biggest issue for me is that I want that unicorn glove. Plenty of dexterity, warm when it's cold, cool when it's hot, and waterproof when it rains, and breathable when.....

Maybe just me but I think since a lot of the manufacturing moved east, Large for about 9” hand is a highly variable size. The BKS gloves I bought from Motolegends (since returned) were L and would barely go on. I decided not to buy their XL because if the sizing was that far out, I start to question other details.

Agree with the gloves.
I have big hands and most glove brands cater for midgets, i cant even get their largest size on dry in a shop.
So wet/sweaty i would have no chance.

I found Knox to work for me, so i have a few pairs now for different climates
 
I tend to visit the shops for anything bikewise, and with Motolegends about 30 mins away it’s relatively easy if you pick your visiting times.

I use Rukka XL mesh for Spring to Autumn, Winter is either Rukka waterproof version of the above for wet but mild, or Halvarrsons Lobster gloves for freezing temps.
Helmets are easy, I’m an Arai devotee and their medium size fits.
Boots are similar, Daytona size 46.

However, like a lot of us I’m always on the look out for something new, and I’d love to find a pair of Klim goatskin/mesh summer gloves that fit me, being either too tight/too loose. At the price of them I’m too frightened to risk the too tight ones in the hope they may stretch or wear-in. :nenau

Buy some and try. If they don’t suit, sell them on UKGSer.

They’ve some put back for me, I just need to head up. For obvious reasons they can’t stock too many brands and I’m quite fussy with gloves, I was keen on the BKS but only Motolegends stock them. See how it goes. It’s only 90 miles round trip so counts as close.
I bought a helmet from them last year
 
Most things other than tshirts and hoodies I'll try on.
Last thing I bought online was a pair of trousers from a military type shop - 32w34l. They ended up being like a 36w 30l. Told them they were mis-described and they could pay the return postage.
"We don't do that" they said.
Ever heard of distance selling regs?
Fortunately PayPay had the final say. 😂
 
I decided I wanted to have a pair of enduro boots but there isn't much choice here in the Highlands so I spoke to Dirtbike Express and they were fine if I ordered half a dozen different boots and sent back all but one pair. OK, post was a bit of a pain (and I know Tossers often worry about every penny) but as a percentage of the price of a pair of decent boots it was OK, and I was sure I got the right ones.
 
Or you could have your cake and eat it - and use SBS’s “Try before you buy service”?! Works for me 👍
Not sure there’s a branch in Kingussie (or even Inverness) for OP though 😬
