Gluten free fish & chips, Whitby or Bridlington?

We are coming up to Pickering for a week and my wife wants gluten free fish & chips at the coast. Whitby seems to be the place to go, but it might be extremely busy and expensive, so looking for an alternative option, Bridlington is coming up as another possibility with chip shops that do gluten free. Any advice or recommendations?

We took a friend who needs gluten free meals as a celiac sufferer to Trenchers in Whitby. They are owned by the Crab & Lobster hotel. GF meals are available
 
My girlfriend is gluten intolerant but she is able to eat fish in a gluten free batter that has been cooked in the regular fryer. Isn't it celiac sufferers that are super sensitive and require complete separation?

Thanks for this, my wife has had coeliac for over 25 years so she is used to the problems of getting gluten free, she has had some strange experiences over the years

Yes, should be cooked in dedicated fryer

As well as specific recommendations I would also like to know whether you would choose Whitby or Bridlington? I know that they are quite different, so reasons to pick one over the other from locals would be useful

Mrs Fiddlesticks is Gluten Free. Mister Chips in Whitby is our go to.
 
Mid September, midweek shouldn't be too busy in Whitby...it'd be my choice for a day out from Pickering. Brid, family seaside daytrip town, Whitby, a bit more variety.

I like both, but you can spend a full day in Whitby. Park for free out towards the golf club and walk in.
 
Land & Sea do them at Thirsk

However you will have imagine that you are by the seaside though

Best Fish & Chips in North Yorkshire?

Harry’s at Masham - nowhere near the sea and all the better for that

And anyone with a wheat intolerance that can cause anaphylactic shock in the worst situations. My daughter has this and has had a few episodes that have required use of an epi pen, which inturn requires calling out a paramedic etc. Things are definitely improving though. My dad was diagnosed as Celiac back in the early 00’s and it made it almost impossible to eat out anywhere. Most decent restaurants cover this now, some better than others admittedly.
 
Fish & Chips at the seaside in North Yorkshire are overrated at Scarborough and Whitby
Filey & Brid are in East Yorkshire

Yes it used to be a nightmare, she used to have to take a book with her when we went shopping and look everything up as the labelling was terrible.

No 149 on the MertonRoad going from Bridlington towards Flamborough take away or pier 6 in Bridlington nr harbour, eat in.
