God it was a good day...Cadwell park

I wouldn't mind a UKGSer track day session either. Will there be a pie wagon at the venue for the lunch stop ??

Just need someone to organise it now for 2015. Perhaps someone who attended the HRT day could make enquiries & obtain some dates, post them up and compile a list of interested participants....:thumb2

As for pie wagons; I always assumed they were part of the fabric @ every race circuit.....:D

I agree, but I like the occasional 'spirited' ride so I'm happy to watch from the stands, just did the N-260 through the Pyrenees & pushed bike so hard my fingers & arms swelled up for 24 hrs..
So, track days are safer for me & others around if I watch & applaud from the stands..

Although, if one was arranged by the forum I'll quite happily come..! Caldwell is possibly the most cost efficient & user friendly..

:D

Could the bars be too high causing restricted blood flow especially with all the steering work going on? Just a thought.

At a 15 grand estimate, it would need a new forum web page with Paypal or similar to put funds up front. I can't see anyone willing to put that kind of money up front on their credit card.

Another option is to enlist the services of a track day specialist e.g. motorsport vision, focused events, hottrax etc. who would obviously have all this money handling system in place already but would expect their cut (rightly so, they aren't a charity).

I can bring my own pie, I just need a microwave :D

Great pics... Ru ready for another one... If you ever fancy riding in "gods country" ...get in touch... Will show you some great roads in north wales.....

Thanks :thumb2, if I'm ever heading your way then I'll get in touch:)

Let me know if you hear any more about the possible Hopp day next year, and I'll do the same. Id love to do it again.

I'm fairly sure £17k is a bit of an overestimate. HRT had 60 spaces at £210 and will have made some cash and also paid expences to the instructors so maybe £8k for the hire...it was £6k about 5 years ago.

Nice photo and good lean angle. The GSA handles unbelievably well when pushed and is crying out for a set of road rubber. Its nice to see something like that in the flesh and its good to see that it has a degree of ground clearance!

I would be curious to know how it "felt" at that lean and what set up did you run?

Select....

:D a track day company

:D a circuit

:D a date or two

:D post a thread for tossers interested in attending, and the most popular date

:D people then make their own booking & post up

Or something like that......:P

It will more than likely need someone to make the necessary enquiries who has previous of such things..........

Why go through all that issues to book a track. Just book a slot on the BMW club track days. Next one will be next year after the Cadwell Park event 29 September which by the way is fully booked. More info here. I have been going there for years now and it is one of the best events of the year, very friendly and a lot of instructors to help you if you need it or ask for it. There is a area where you can park up if you want some tuition and a instructor will soon turn up, ask you a few questions and off you go. There is also a number of GS's and GS Adventures and the best thing is that if you are covered by BMW insurance you are insured for the track day and you can have a go on a S1000RR if you fancy.

The problem with booking a track is that you have to stomp up the money first which is an awful lot of money to pay out of your pocket. Best is to do a group booking. MSVT can do that, No Limits and Focused Events systems are not set up for a reservation and subsequent discount if the group reaches a certain size like 10 for example to have a 10% discount. Certain tracks can reserve a garage for you but you may have to phone the track themselves to ask for a reserved garage or turn up very early that morning or sleep over at the track.

According to many on here they get a lot further over than that on public roads...would be good to see them on a track.

Worth waiting till October before paying your subs, that way you get extended membership...

The full fee applies whatever time of year you join unless you join during October, November or December, when you will get the remainder of the current year free. Your membership will then be valid for the whole of the following year, up until 31st January the year after.

Looks good, spectators allowed.?

Nice photos guys :beerjug: Did you get any good air on the Mountain thebuyer?

I did a BMW Club day at Snetterton a while back and it was very different than an HRT day. The HRT days are without shadow of doubt the safest environment to be in, but will likely be a bit slow 'n' soft for the hard core dedicated track day goer. The level of guidance at a BMW Club day is a lot less than HRT, and as much as they give the impression of running strict rules on overtaking.....they don't IMO! I went out with an instructor and had someone pile up the inside of me just as I was following the instructor into an awkward section of track. We could have been going quicker but that wasn't the idea of the instruction and the rules clearly stated don't pile up the inside. The dude did apologise but then went an upset some other punters who then called it day before the final session as things were getting a little crazy. There were also more track disruptions due to people having offs compared to an HRT day (normally from the expert group!).

If you're quicker than most, and I mean most, and you're not fussed by a bit of "enthusiastic" riding, then go for it. If you want high levels of safety and equal amounts of instruction go with HRT.

Unfortunately the BMW fleet of bikes that used to go around to BMW Club days seems to have finished :-( there were no toys for me to play with on my day!

Yes it is very much different than HRT. The cautious group overtaking is restricted but it is a free for all in the other groups. You do not have to be a BMW club member or BMW owner to participate. Yes, I'm guilty. Did bin the bike in the farmers field past Riches this June otherwise I would have run into a slower rider in the corner, you just cannot predict what the rider in front of you are going to do. You learn as you go and there is no substitute for experience both for those that overtake and gets overtaken. That rider probably never knew how close he was from being taken out :D. But overall I rate the BMW club track day highly and like meeting old faces there for a chat and catch-up.

Did someone mention air? Does this count? :D

If you squint hard enough and use some imagination then you might see some air...

To be honest, the last thing on my mind coming over the Mountain was getting air. My front did lift a few times but I wasn't wanting it to. I was putting all my effort into making sure I took the correct line as the track kinks slightly to the right as you come over the crest.

Flippin'eck Smug, who's that? Is that David? + the track is falling away a little. I think I have room for improvement based on my pics :-D

Mr Bear, air is air so that counts....but I was actually thinking a little more Josh Brooks. Well not both wheels as that would just be asking for trouble on a GSA!
