going mad - unlock codes

Got myself a Garmin V on ebay a couple of months ago, and haven't used it properly yet. I have the City Select and the European Roads and Recreation CDs with it, but cannot get any info selected and transferred onto my GPS - the European Roads CD tells me it is locked. How do I find out the Unlock codes (the programme asks me for a 7-digit code, but all the codes that the previous owners wrote down for me are 8+ digits .

Hi,
what I had with my GPS V for city select was:-
1) 8 digit numeric serial number of the unit
2) 25 character unlock code alphanumeric in blocks of 5 with a '-' inbetween ie ABC22-DEF33-GGG11-AAAA1-BBBB2
3) 7 character alphanumeric registration code

you'll need a combination of the above to unlock the disk, I would have expected the vendor to have included the original certificate
with the unit??? I did when i sold mine!
