Hi There,
Sweden and Norway have a lot to offer. How long is your trip going to be? On epossible option is to go from Southern Sweden on the the East coast. It sounds like you want good roads, there is a good dual carriage way called the E4 that goes from South to North on the East coast. It is an easy ride that pretty much hugs the coast with plenty of places to stop off and explore and no shortage of hotels, hostels etc... IMHO the further north you go the better the scenery and you get lovely rolling hills and curves...
Places of note to spend a little time are:
*Stockholm (if you dare brave the traffice), but a must see
take the road 76 from Stockholm to Gavle - beautiful road and nice town.
*Sundsvall - a bit industrial, but the town center is really picturesque
*Ornskoldsvik (my homestead) - a small town on the coast, very pretty and lots to do
*Umea - another old city, another 100kms from Ornskoldsvik, very beautiful and lots to do.
*Lulea - about 350kms from Umea, nice town and not far from the Artic Circle.
Once in Lulea, you can go to Kiruna in the very North of Sweden. From here you have several options. Either go down south again via the East of Sweden OR cross over into Norway and go to Lofoten... From here you can go down the East coat of Norway and get a ferry home or travel back into Sweden etc..
If you want, I can map sev eral routes on google maps for you and help with accomodation etc..
Best of luck!
