Going to down town abbey next year

This one at Burghclere

Literally just off the main A34 and into the pretty village

We stopped there in the way to the night ferry at Pompey, on the bikes in mid September

Had rooms and lodges

Good vibe with lots of locals using it

Lads thanks a million for all the help.

So went up to Hatcho aka Sean last night to use his computer to book trip for Mrs Dub as our one at home is used by her all the time.

Anyway we sat with two mugs of tae and I booked the Hotel and Flights for April and then went to the Highclere House website to book tickets

Guess what ? Nothing available for the dates I've booked. Wr stupidly assumed it would be open every weekend like most Stately Piles.🫣

Flights and Hotel I can't change without incurring huge extras So I'm going to have to explain to Mrs Dub my complete and utter fcuk up of her Christmas present tomorrow.

I had also planned to book a Westend show but have decided to let her pick that herself that way at least the trip is part something she actually wants

The 2nd part of her present a trip to Rome I'll tell her about tomorrow and we can both sit down and book it together, that way I have a chance of giving her what she wants

I’d rent a car and do the Cotswold’s and Stratford Upon Avon.

Good recovery 👍🏽
Thanks that's a good idea. I was thinking book a show for Friday Night after a days sight seeing . Go somewhere Saturday for the day and a nice dinner somewhere in London.
Can any one recommend a nice Stately home outside London thats accessible by train in case she doesn't want to do a road trip.

For a treat the indigo hotel in Stratford is nice and in centre so no car needed.

Rooms are Shakespeare themed.

Nice snug bars and library coffee area.

2 mins from RSC. 👍🏽

Hampton Court, full of history and sumptuous buildings and the world famous maze.

And it has it's own train station just across the road.

That's a wrap folks Hampton Court it is
Thanks to everyone for their input.
I hope you all have a lovely day tomorrow what ever way you spend it
