International Currency Barometer

I find the best way to gauge the cost of living in any country is to buy a Mcdonalds meal, last Weds on the way home from Les Gets (mountain biking) , in Martigny Switzerland a 1/4 Cheese Meal was 11.20CHF which for my convience was converted in store at a rate of 1 to 1 to 11.20 Euro which is about £10.50. So 1/4 cheese meal incl shake and fries for mum dad and two boys £42.00. :blast

Great country though, wish I lived there.:)

Currently in Zurich. Heading home tomorrow. No hi viz, forgot me spare bulbs, but stick religiously to the speed limits ( when I think I need to).

Great place, but fuck me, it can be a tad dear these days. Been in Austria last few days. Nice enough, much cheaper, but Seems a shithole after Switzerland.

To repay my cousin for the free digs for a week in Zurich I rather foolishly said I would buy us all dinner at a nice trendy looking Thai place we had walked past.... He tried to warn me:rob But oh no, I wouldn't have it. Three starters, Three mains, and 6 beers later they relieved my (already groaning) wallet of CHF175!!:eek::blast
Bloody good holiday though! And I will be back next year to do the passes in the sunshine....:thumb2

You must be a cheap date if you think under £45 per person is an expensive meal out.

CHF175 seems a cheap price to pay for accommodation for a week, especially as some of that went on food for yourself.

Had a fantastic Thai meal at the Blue Monkey in Zurich last week. 2 Starters, mains, beers, think the miss us had an aperitif: CHF160. Very nice pizza at Santa Lucia in Bellview on Sunday, a bit cheaper at CHF106.

Got searched leaving the country by the Germans. "are you carrying more than
