gold wing

4 weeks on

and i`ve not sold it yet, sold the sat nav yesterday, so if i go anywhere now, how on earth would i find my way home! :D

A few years back the editor at Bike had a full dress Wing and painted it up in a Repsol race paint job, it looked brilliant :D Rossi rode it into Leicester Square to promote the British GP :thumb

If I had one I think I'd do the same thing :bounce1

Mrs. Mutley sits on the pillion seat of the latest Wing every year at the NEC and says 'why can't we have one of these?'. I normally just point out the price tag

well

you could have a mint one with 3600 miles on the clock for only £11,000.. :D

Nick Marshall made me do it!

Sat down after dinner and a few glasses of wine, to catch up on email....and 10 minutes later found myself the owner of a Honda Pan European ST1300 (2004 model, 20,000 miles).http://www.ukgser.com/forums/images/smilies/eek.gif

Another ebay/wine/keyboard accident or the prelude to lots of entertainment?

should have checked the insurance premium first!

Just got off the phone from Devitt....got a bit of a shock when they told me what it was going to cost to add the Pan to my policy.....£15! (plus £20 admin fee of course).

With a 10% discount for a Thatcham approved alarm which should save me.....£1.50!!

50,000 miles on a 1500 - took me and the wife (and the kitchen sink) all round Europe - never let me down once, what's more, the thought never even crossed my mind that it even might. Met a lot of great people on Wings too - but also a few nerds, but that's life. Like Harleys, they have a bit of an image problem which masks what is otherwise a great machine. But Wingers do like their lights and jewelry.

buying another bike

Interested in comments on the Gold Wing....some bloke based in Italy and sounding very dodgy!

Too tempting to be true...hence on to the Pan

What's the attraction?

They seem too big, too heavy, too thirsty etc

I've never ridden one and have an open mind but what is it about Goldwings that you owners love so much about them?

There's a touch of the "two-wheeled Porsche" thing - that flat six engine is gorgeous when you wind it on. They also handle really well (on Metz ML's) considering the bulk - so long as you show it who's boss. I've done many 500+ mile days and it was a breeze. They're bullet proof, and they lack a bit of ground clearance, but it's fun to watch the sparks fly from the footpegs. And the sound system is great if you like to ride and be entertained.

Theyr'e not that thirsty unless you ride everywhere flat out - I've seen over 50mpg fully loaded touring - but that can just as easily become 25 mpg if you reallly horse it.

I don't think I would ever have another one though - I've had my fun with them and moved on. But if you get the opportunity give it a go. It's a hoot.

I confess to being tempted by a Wing, if only for the giggle factor of playing with all the gadgets :)

you must

get a go on one! i mean you lot! i know there big and all that, i`ve owned a few bikes in my time, inc. a few big touring bikes 1300 pan, r1150rt, 1200 trophy, rocket 111 etc, but none come anywhere near the GL1800 that engine is poss. the best bike engine ever made. It`s torqey, got character and should last forever it`s so unstressed!:thumb
