Golf clubs as pillon?

Hi all,

Before I get my measuring tape out...has anyone succesfully transported their golf bag (and clubs) on the back of a GSA? With the panniers on, I reckon they could lie across without poking out too much. Is this recommended and/or legal?

We're talking a soft bag with bipod and woods taken out.

Are you sure the club secretary will let you in the car park with a bike??

I wouldn't mess about with tape measures. I'd pick up the bag of golf clubs and lay it accross the back seat, ensuring first that the panniers were fitted. That way I'd be able to see straight away if they'd fit without overhanging the panniers. The only thing I'bd be worried about was them falling out of the bag when going around a corner.

Sometimes the obvious answers to your problems are just staring you in the face :thumb2
 
Hi, this thread should cause a some amusement as we have seen already, so to share some of the stick I'll tell you I used to transport a full set with a normal golf carry bag on an R1150R. Was based in N London then and went up to St Albans a couple of times, using the M1 at least to the legal speed limit, and a few clubs around London including to one in South London, it was never an issue. Don't think I have any photos.

I strapped the bag with the base resting on the pillion footpeg, held in place with a Rox strap, and the bag resting against the backrest of a big Givi topbox, and again strapped in place. This was secure and somewhat obscured by the Givi box and did not attract too much attention. Not sure it was legal, and I suspect if I had come off it would have scattered clubs all over the place. Have not tried putting a bag on the 1200GS yet.

Not sure this is much use to you, apart form a bit of moral support, as you may be planning to have a pillion and folding up the bag and transporting the clubs loose. Cheers Jim
 
WTF !!... They'll be selling GSA's with cut glass crystal decanter sets in wicker baskets as top boxes soon...:D
 
If it can be done on a Kwak, it can be done on a GS.....:thumb

We used to have a window cleaner who carried all his ladders on his motorbike. And a bucket over his shoulder.
 
Dont see why not...

I have several times carried my Hockey Goalie kit in the back of mine (seat off + Varios). No probs....

I've even carried a Bass Guitar, and a rifle case (not at the same time) the same way....

As to the ethics ....... well......:augie
 
I used to carry mine on my M900, eventually it took the paint of the seat hump though:nenau

Just make sure you turn up in golf-club approved motorcycling attire. Tally ho!

The best thing a GS can do to golfers is have a frikking loud horn fitted, ride past a gold course, wait for someone who is about to take a shot and hit the frikkin horn as they swing for the ball. Hilarious.

I hate golf, and those that claim its a sport !!! How can it be a sport, I mean the pulse barely gets about rest rate. And then they drive round in electric buggies. FFS. Lazy lardy arse's.

Golfers deserve a few "distractions". Ahem.
