Now the proud owner of an 08 R-1200-GSA MU complete with the the full set comfort pack dynamic pack, BMW aluminium luggage and some farkles.

I've never ridden one before, but it was just entirely intuitive. Even the stretch to the floor is no big deal. It was dark so I struggled a bit with the indicators but after a few miles its fine. Handling and performance are way better than I expected so got to recalibrate my brain (at least to the speed).

There is a nasty bump in the northbound M40 fast lane just south of Oxford Services. I hit it last week on my diversion and I'm sure it took off. The steering fluttered as if it had come down from a wheelie. Not fun in the dark at (shall we say) motorways speeds!!! I'm not used to that stretch so wasn't avoiding the lane and hit it again on the GS. I felt the bump but no drama no fuss.

The same situation on the M6 raised section where the expansion joints have (erm!) expanded!. Some are like speed bumps in a council estate. The diversion would seriously crash over them. Not dangerous but certainly not good for the bike. The GS just floated over though I did try to stick to the car tyre tracks as they are less rough.

Its a stretch to the ground for me but I love it's road presence and high riding position. It's stunningly good and I'll soon get used to the stretch.

Its got full BMW luggage, a few farkles and handy stuff like ESA. Only -ve is some crazing around the screen mounting rubbers.

Noooo... it's not a Harley. They look just fine with a couple of inches of road dirt and grime n them. Ride not polish!
