This is my first post, having just registered with the forum. I'm considering a new GS1200 or used 1150GS early next year but I am unsure as to local dealers reputations. I live in Kent on the border with SE London. Can anyone make any recommendations as to good or bad dealers within a 40 mile radius please?
Many thanks...........Steve

Sounds like

Prestige Motorcycles Ltd.
300 Broadway
Bexleyheath DA68AH
Tel: / 020 8303 3030

Would be the handiest. I've used them when I lived in Bromley, and found them very good, and have heard nothing to the contrary since.../Rob

Well Beemer, I can fully recomend Prestige of Bexleyheath, Stuart is the Salesman/owner, But any of the Lads in the store will be more than happy to give advice & help, I can recomend them with confidence. Pop in & see them & get a cup of char & a test ride!:D

Beemer.....Prestige are good......not had any probs with them and haven't seen any bad posts about them here either........for where you are they should be fine......do a search for 'prestige' using the button up top of page and you'll see what has been said....

This may sound daft considering the amount of bad press Park Lane have had recently, but now might well be a very good time to go to them,....make sure you tell them that you're from UKGSer and you should in theory get some good service......(take a look at the threads about them to see why ;)

Good Dealers

I bought my 1150 GS from Canon BMW in Chelmsford, have always found them fair and reliable so I would recommend them if they are near you. unfortunately there are no dealers in mid or SE Kent, we used to have David Brown in Ashford but he retired in the late 80's, then there was L&C in Tunbridge Wells who were useless, since then nothing.
good luck and regards,
Barrie.

A stinging indictment from the man in the chair - nothing more to add :P

South London Motorcycles

In Caterham - bought an Adventure off them for £500 less than equivalent at SPC. Servicing was fine (loaner bike), good clothes selection, nice people. WELL worth a visit.

OK Steve (Beemer) a proper answer. Geographically you are well positioned to try the field, yes Prestige is your local dealer in Bexleyheath and sure as eggs are eggs if Stuart wants to deal he will.

But don't overlook withing an hours travel of your location you have Cannons in Chelmsford to the East, South London Motorcycles to the South, Park Lane to the West and Sawbridgeworth to the North.

When I was in the market I caste my net wider still and the dealer I bought from was 80+ miles from home, on account that they had the bike and the deal for me.

If you were to caste your net further you'd get another four dealers and an even greater pool of secondhand bikes. That might be especially useful if you're going to play the waiting game and join the list for a 1200.

We've all got our favourites and we've all been bitten by MBW dealer cock-up's but I wouldn't let any of that stand in the way of me sucking and seeing for myself.

I bought the demo GSA that Canons were running. I found them helpful and pleasant and will return their for servicing. Nothing to fault them on at the mo.

Thanks for all your replies, I think I'll take Judges advice and maybe cast my net a little further than Prestige. Cheers all.

Cannons

I can wholeheartedly reccomend Cannons in Chelmsford. Excellent service, excellent atmosphere and excellent value. If you buy a bike from them then you get 15% discount on servicing or something. My recent 6000 mile service on my GSA only cost £124-00 ish. Got a tremendous deal on a jacket too!

I am not sponsored by them honesty!

But give them a call on 01245 496 444

Kate,Ronnie, Tony, Nick or Bill will help you.

Regards,

Steve - Freedom Rider Training.
