I don't know if many of you have needed to stitch together several photos to make a panorama? In the past I've used Photoshop CS with varying results...

Today I downloaded and had a play with the Autostitch package which you can download the demo version for free.

I've stitched a couple of panoramas and I'm fairly pleased with the results.

The photo below consists of three indivudual photos has not been tweaked in any way other than me tidying up the edges by cropping and doing a resize for web publication. When I've stitched in Photoshop I've usually had to play around with the cloning, dodge, burn tools etc...
Anyway.. thought some of you might be interested.. especially as it's FREE :D

Wow! I just took a bunch of pictures of my hotel room with my phone then uploaded them to the PC. The program does what it says on the tin!

i found this a few weeks ago - its such a small simple program
Small simple program, small simple person. Perfect match! :dabone

It's interesting that it takes quite a while to render compared to Photoshop but the result is worth the wait... here's another 3 photo merge...

Well I'm not impressed :(

Didn't do what I thought it would.

I know that the pictures weren’t taken in the same country but they were all in Europe within one week of each other.

Good show. Thank you. Have spent the last hour loading in and printing out photo's :D :D

BMBEN... glad you enjoyed it... you kind of get hooked on it don't you?
So far the photos I've stitched have only been with the camera hand held and panned to the best of my ability... now I think I want to get a tripod and spend a bit more time on it. I fancy doing some 360 degree shots.

Steve... yep, I hear that the stitching software that comes with (some?) Canons is very good. btw.. can you resize down to around 800 pixels wide for posting on the site, to make them a bit more web friendly ;) :thumb
