We had a great weekend away last summer at the 'Manifold Inn' in the peak district. Cracking time, but 21 of us eventually turned up, and overwhelmed the 'Manifold Inn'. (Nr Hartington). They were also hosting a wedding reception..which had its attractions, though I don't suppose the bride was that impressed.

So, as half of us are from Yorkshire, some from manchester, Salisbury, Brum, Cheltenham ect, the Peaks are a great meet up place.

Anyone recommend a place that'll accept 20 bikers camping, drinking copious amounts of Ale, and also (ideally) give us a breakfast?

I Reccon the Bull i Thorn on the A515 about 6 miles south of Buxton could be just what you need.. attached camping site and good food..

Coopers campsite in Edale. Big campsite in gorgeous surroundings at start of pennine way, two minutes to a cracking pub (another five minutes walk) and cafe on site...... sorted

The Black Horse at Hulland Ward is used twice a year by those that post to the usenet group uk.rec.motorcycles
Yellow pages map/details
There's plenty of camping space in the grounds. They are happy to provide a breakfast & dinner but once the pub is shut you are at one with nature.

Here's an archived google thread about the last one.

The pub has a few guest rooms too for the nesh feckers.

Thanks for the replies / advice / links. From the look of it, Coopers (& the Nags Head) is an early favourite. That's mainly 'cos there's more info on the net about it.

However. Have now got an excuse for a recce of the area!!, and will check out the 'Black horse' and 'Bul i' th' thorn', as well as anywhere else recommended, or chanced upon.

Another place mentioned by a mate was the '3 stags heads'. Any recommendations on that one?

Cheers

Spritual home of the Peak district GSer. See some earlier threads for photo's.

Very small and only open at the weekend, real ales only, no lager (sorry I mentioned it Geoff) or tea / coffee. Good food but slow arriving, accomodation is a small pig loft and field next door for camping. Worth a visit if you are in the area as it really is a special pub!...

Mr Ifan lives just around the corner and is part of the furniture, but he's away at the moment.

Oh, its at a place called Wardlow Mires on the A423.

I'll put a vote in for Cooper's.

Laid back organisation, no hassle from officialdom unless you're really naughty :thumb

However, if you want to get blasted and move on first thing in the morning, then it's the Stags

That gone upmarket from when I was a lad !

Used to camp there when in the Scouts in the 70's ...

Anyhoo - try the Square and Compass Darley Dale - just north of Matlock . They have a camping field just across the road from the pub and do good plain grub at good plain prices.
