Welcome, quickpete.

The Altmuhltal in Franconia is a peach and attracts many weekend bikers. There is a particularly sweet road, short and challenging, running off the Altmuhl road at Zimmern leading to Bieswang. Watch out it may be short but catches out many (over)keen pegscrapers.

cheers for the quick reply.
is this south of nurnberg? found the national park. do you know any of the place names or where i would pick this road up, road numbers? we were looking to ride back roads to ansbach so this looks good

The B500 in the Schwarzwald is a beaut. Great roads, great surfaces and great scenery :thumb2

Swiss Saxony is pretty nice - just follow all the roads around Pirna and you can't go wrong :thumb2

Yes, south of Nurenburg. Towns I know in this area are Weisenburg, Solnhofen, Pappenheim and Eichstadt.

can you give me a place name to locate it on viamichelin map please

Harz mountains and the black forest :beerjug:

The B500 from Baden Baden to Triberg is lovely, if you stay off of the motorway from France there is a free car ferry across the Rhine into Germany which adds a bit to the trip if you want the GPS co-ordinates let me know.

Cheers

Mark

Have a great trip mate, looking forward to reading your ride report.

I'm off to Germany too in July, going to be doing the Black Forest and surrounding areas and then north to the Eifel mountains, Nurburg and the Mosel Valley :bounce1
