I put my five motorcycle renewal out to four brokers and one direct insurer (Tradex) for renewal quotes.
All five qouted reasonably quickly, without too much teeth sucking.
Not surpisingly, the alternatives varied in cost by over 300%, between Aviva (the highest) and Equity Red Star (via Devitt) at the lowest end. Close to Equity Red Star came Bikesure, then CNash.... and so on, right up to Aviva.
In all, I guess the process took me about an hour of my time, spread over a three day period, helped as I had all my details to hand before I started the process. All of the contact was over the phone with all of the conatct details coming from the pages of MCN, other than Tradex who were a tip from a friend of mine. I was careful to request that Equity Red Star do not make my 2015-16 policy subject to an automatic-renewal this time and listened carefuly to the mid-term alteration and / or cancellation provisions.
The eventual saving was worth the limited - and definitely painless - effort involved. Anyone can (and should) do the same.
