You're all buying them - I've just sold mine today and picked up a 1200ST! Sorry guys! The weight got to me in the end.

I'll still lurk on the forum - I'm going to find a nice 80GS when my finances recover!

i can't complain..JAY sold me a couple of bits and pieces and I'm very happy with them.:)

just hang about and enjoy the banter, you might come back to a GS ;)

have you any other bits left?:D :D :D

Saw the new 1200ST in BVM yesterday and they are an attractive looking bike.
Don't worry I'm still sticking with the 1150.
(You'll have to prise it out of my cold dead hands).

All the bits have gone now and by the looks of it my old GS may well have too - immediate interest at the dealers! Mind you it was black!

The ST does have a couple of compensations - it's pretty nippy and the screen's a damn sight quieter! I had originally ordered a 1200GS but it's not got the character of the 1150 and a 3 month delivery time and I couldn't get the test ride of the ST out of my head.

One thing's for sure, there won't be an ST forum anything like this one - if there ever is an ST forum!

You could always start one. We'll all come over and get the discussions started for you.....

Goodbye GS

Interesting choice, I've a back to back test of the GS and the ST booked for wednesday (also got the same at another dealer the wednesday after too!!) So I'll be interested to see what the two are like in comparison. Hopefully one will suit my needs perfectly, now if only they'd fit my pocket easily too!!

Took an ST as a loaner on Thursday when my 1150 was in Hurst's for a service. Great engine, real turbine, just keeps on going through the gears but could'nt be doing with the low speed handling, it kept on flopping into corners. Riding position was tiring on my wrists after a few hours and me old back started to ache.

Just like settling into my favourite armchair when I got the GS back and sort of worrying 'cos I dunno what else I'm going to change to if and when it ever wears out :D

ride safe and enjoy
that's what it's all about
whatever is best for you... IS BEST
plain and simple

hey....
check back with us and post about your ST experiences
.......
in your own little ukster's

Ricky, it was 12000 but was a bit of a mish-mash. I had an annual service @ 9500 beginning of June, all oils etc, before I went to Spain but when I got back I was over 12K so they only did TBs, air filter and valve clearances plus some warranty work, charged 90 quid

I had an ST for 2 weeks as a loaner while my GS12 was having its clutch replaced.

ST motor lovely and smooth, really pokey seemed like the GS but 10% more power everywhere, but I hated the riding position and the handling just didnt seem as good as my GS for some reason the rear felt disconnected from the road somehow didnt like it.

Looks are subjective but I wasnt keen at all

I got back on my GS and it immediately felt 'right' except after the ST the motor felt like a bag of spanners in comparison

ST motor in a GS chassis ...... yes please !!! :D :D

Dunno whats looks worse bike or the miserable git sitting on it

There is something ugly about ST's and ugly by any standard not just BMW's. Having said that . . . I took one out for test ride and really loved it. Don't know why :nenau

I gots to agree BMW should stick that engine tune in the GS

Well, I like the looks! Each to their own I suppose but it does stand out from the mass of lookalikes. As do most of BMs bikes!

A good ride out yesterday (and meeting Dazzer and Leigh on their way down to Portsmouth on their new Adventure) made me realise that struggling with the weight and bulk of the GS was not fun and really spoilt for me what was a great bike - apart from the uncomfortable seat and racket from the screen that is!
Oh, and there's too many accessories for the GS - it hit my card quite badly!!!!!

I did feel a few pangs of concience watching Dazzer ride in on the Adventure mind you!

Yup I did have a wry smile to myself when typing that the ST was ugly when I ride a GS1200 described by one magazine as looking like an 'unmade bed' :D

Hope you enjoy your ST

Hey Mike
adjectives such as 'distictive' and 'interesting' come to mind.
I know what you mean about the motor - I hired a new RT in the UK recently and the motor was much smoother than the GS.
