Hello 'Guys',

I would like to just formally announce that the Captain is retiring once and for good. I'd like to say how wonderful it has been to have got to know you and how proud I am to have developed, bonded and contributed to some of your friendships that you have today amongst yourselves.
I really enjoyed having rides with what was then, with total strangers with one common interest... Riding. I enjoyed our rides together, the day trips, camping and of course the famous "Captains Ring" ... The challenging route from Newlands to Boxhill and back at a progressive pace.... Lovely memories of just meeting for a coffee or riding to the coast for some fish n chips. We managed to keep 30 odd riders together on a ride without losing anyone! ahem .... Lovely stories to be told, some crashes... Lots of laughter and some losses along the way. This site has enabled and continues to be a great catalyst for such friendship and companionship to develop with good advice along the way, never too far. I will not name the sons of Panos here... I will let you come out on your own! But you have cousins and uncles that joined the elite SE rides ....who will continue to ride together....
Sue and I have booked our one way tickets to live on a Greek Island.
We fly on the morning of 10th June from Bristol. If anyone wants a mates rates holiday on Alonissos ... let me know.
GSA to a 125 twist and go ... Oh Hell....

Good bye ... Ride Safe... Panos

Wow ...that's what I call living the dream :)

I hope you both have a long and happy time over there :ChrisKelly

Thanks for the note Dad!!!!!:D

Absolute pleasure being your riding buddy for those glory years. I remember the first meet at Newlands where we hit it off straight away and it just got better from there. I miss those long rides, the laughter, camaraderie the pace :green gri and the fame when we were filmed by the Boorman bus on his epic journey from the Ace...

Live long and happy Panos, you deserve it and have worked hard for it. Enjoy everything life throws at you and keep a place mat or two set aside for us, Alonissos looks like a lovely island for us to come visit.

All the best,

Shadowfist, Saydo, SE Rider...........

:D :D so will I... "Can you hear me now?!" Epic :D

Thanks, Panos... The rides to you coast, fish & chips for 36 please, the blats through the unclassifieds of Surrey, chases round the Captain's Ring at ridiculous speeds, taking over Newlands Corner car park with GSs of all sizes, camping by the donkey sanctuary, scary taxi rides through Sidmouth's sleepy streets , it's all been very memorable and something to think back on with a smile :clap

For all this and more I thank you.

All the best of luck in whatever life brings your way.

Look after you and yours and if you're ever needing a place to lay your head on the way through this way please let me know.

Love to Sue

Alonissos, the nearest I've got to there is sailing out of Skiathos on a chartered yacht. A wonderful part of the world.

They may be glad of some new residents having lost around 20% of the population in the last 21 years. Will you be a gentleman (hooligan?) of leisure or just a change of scene and pace of life?
