Just in case anyone coming on the rideout missed the earlier post, here is the reference again to a detailed explanation of the 'Drop-Off' system we will be trying to use:

That said, this particular instruction leaflet seems to have been written by a Company Sergeant Major having a mid-life crisis :ronno and we will probably be just a biit more relaxed. :guitarist

Of course its good to be safe though.

Take it there isnt going to be offroad sections to this little trek...?
Anyone going from basingstoke area, could meet up on the way down to goodwood.
Looking forward to it.:D

I have just read the rules on formation dancing ,sorry riding to which I have two questions
1.Is one permitted to fart against the wind
b.since when was being a member of MENSA a prerequisite of going on a bike run.
Ride free bro's

Any room for anymore, had my GS 3 weeks yet to go for good ride due to weather, work etc,
I will be coming from work, so should make goodwood, if not I will head for loomies midday.

My giddy Aunt but we have some right little humorists here - it strikes me that a plentiful supply of Kleenex be needed to wipe away the tears of mirth they cause during the ride. :D

And as to meeting-up along the route and even doing your own thing, that's great and everyone needs to enjoy the ride in their own way. As long as those who are not into the more regulated nucleus (he's been at the black stuff ) ............er, as I was saying, those of a more 'free-wheeling' nature.........don't frighten the bejasus out of the more tender souls who prefer structure and order.

So here's the latest estimate of the 25 so far intending to turn-up:

A final point, can we have a volunteer for Lead-Rider?

Preferably someone who has done it before using the Drop-Off system. I have to count myself out as I haven't had the experience and, with 2 weeks still left, we are becoming a pretty large group which will need some managing to avoid losing riders in the dark depths of the native Sussex/Hampshire border country.

The more i read this thread the more i have to larf.
with a group this big (if half of them turn up) a nice ride out is not that difficult. People should get lost, that many bikes at junctions, i hardly think that all of them will get out in one go. Come on people a bit of common sense here. Yes a structure is good but this is suppose to be fun.:thumb2

goodwood

Horse you are a man after my own heart. We have enough rules laws etc in this country without making our own up.Biking should be fun relaxed and sometimes slightly dangerous otherwise why would we do it.You can still have fun and be safe.

Unless I misunderstand the comments (no surprise there then :augie), it seems that Horse and Brig (and others maybe) would rather we just all met up and made our own way to the planned destinations, as a group or not depending upon circumstances and personal whims.

Although this whole idea was just a suggestion for a few of us South Coast locals to meet up, say hi, and have a bit of a day out, it has got a bit bigger than planned with Tossers coming from all over the place.

That said, nothing stops those who want to 'do their thing' from doing it, but they also have to understand that not all of us are experienced, bugs-in-the-teeth, hard nosed riding gods. There are a fair number of inexperienced or less confident riders who also want to come along and who have expressed relief at some sort of structure.

Anyhow, its a free world and this is not commercial venture, just a bit of 'fun' with all of the variations that the 'f' word entails.

As has been suggested, why don't we just meet up and do the social thing at breakfast. Then them that wants to zoom around and feel free from 'rules' can do just that whilst those that like the organised ride can enjoy it without any concerns that they are behaving like Sam Brown belt wearing old farts and holding up the rest.

The whole idea of the leader/sweeper system is to help less experienced riders and it is definitely not designed to crack the whip and bellow instructions like mini Obersturmfuhrers :ronno. That's no fun and nobody want that.

So Horse and Brig, as we've got 2 weeks still to go, do you want to set a different route for the 'faster' gang or set off a bit later/earlier? We could still all hook-up again later in the day to swap tall tales.

Just my twopenny-ha'pence worth (go look it up if you're under 50) :rob

Hey Horse,

I could meet at basingstoke .. Live in Oakley just outside .. Let me know when and where and I'll be there ..

Cheers
Steve

Heres a plan:....

I'll print 30 maps and mark the route showing stops at Loomies, Bahnstormer and Whiteways Lodge.....

We will give this out at Goodwood and all leave at the same time, everybody can ride at their own pace, fast, slow, whatever and will naturally split into smaller groups based on traffic etc....like a treasure hunt, but coffee and bacon sarnies are the treasure.....and we know where they are... if anybody gets lost... hey thats part of the fun!

We will then all meet for coffee and chat's at Loomies... allow Sportsbike riders to take the Pish... some of us will point out we have one of those as well and shall then move onto Bahnstomers to block up the carpark have a mooch round... and try on twat suits followed by more coffee/chats.... we shall then leave when ready and move on to Whiteways Lodge at own pace !!! some will arrive first other last!

I'm sure we have all riden for years and can rspect each others space... it is alas not a trackday!... nor i fear a hardly davidson HOG chapter!

sorry if i've offended anybody! ( i normally do!)

see you at 10:00 on the 28th!!! lets just enjoy ourselves!

Yeah.......good on yer Twizzle :ChrisKelly

I think that's a great compromise allowing everyone to do their thing.

I vote YES :thumb2

I'll just stay at Goodwood and eat breakfast !:augie

Only joking I can multi task - see you all there

Just seen a bloke on the news testing airbag jackets. Looks like he was at Goodwood. I ain't doing that
