Just wondering if any of ye came across this site before, it seems the clarity/detail is much better than on Google Earth

Bing is the new name for the Microsoft search engine and their "Virtual Earth" product, which has been around for many years.

The "birds eye" view is nice -- you are limited to the four fixed viewing angles and there is very limited zoom, but those four viewing angles show proper perspective.

Google Earth lets you look at any angle and zoom with the terrain (mountains & hills) and move smoothly around, but its all based on the flat overhead view so perspective of buildings is usually distorted.

Horses for courses I suppose.

I've just had a look at my location and the Map is more than 5 years out of date.

Good site Daithi

Like this site as google earth has rubbish coverage of the area I live in. Bing is much better :thumb2

Daithi it looks like they haven't updated the Welsh maps, I can't get anything like the clarity and definition in your images, and the car on my drive could well be one I sold about 10years ago it's too difficult to make it out.

Use these for work to suss out locations before visiting them - both are good, but depends on where you are how out of date and / or detailed they are.
Generally I check 3 sites to have a look at which is best: GoogleEarth, Bing.com and Multimap.
All much of a muchness and the date of the photo also depends on the angle you are looking from, sometimes if you rotate round a location whole buildings appear and disappear!

LOCATION? LOCATION?

. .I seem to have been wiped off da face of da earth . . or slipped off the edge of da flat earth . . just a white expanse!
