Fortunately, when I was born again as a biker in the summer, a mate advised me to get vented bike gear--otherwise I would have melted--and I ended up with BMW Savanna 2 (the red/grey gear in the R1200GS brochure).
Seeing as it was midsummer I didn't bother with the gore-tex inserts and I'm now inclined not to bother as I have trekking gear that is probably much the same. I could wear the wind/waterproof trekking top either inside (per the BMW insert) or on top of the Savanna jacket.
Inside looks neater as my Savanna top then matches the red of the bike.
But in wet weather, wearing it outside would prevent the Savanna top from getting soaked and logic says wearing the trekking top outside should be warmer.
Does this sound right?
