Right after getting absolutely soaked through on Friday riding home from work , I re-waterproofed my textile jacket and trousers over the weekend which seems to have made no difference as I got soaking wet through going to work this morning in light rain !:blast

The question is has any one got a recommendation on a decent jacket and trouser combo that is preferably Gore-Tex (sheltext etc) lined, suitable for all season commuting! Only requirement I have (apart from water tight!) is to be reasonably cheap (sub £200) if possible!

can anyone help me:o?

Regards

I've used the heine gericke gortex gear and found it to be the dogs.

thanks for the replies guys, I know sub £200 as a bit of a whish really! I think I am going to have to keep an eye out at my local heine gericke shop for sale items ~(and ebay!).

Think I will have a look at the cruise jacket and trouser comob, although the "master" gear looks rather good!

Regards

Try the Ixon range very reasonable prices and 100% waterproof, I've got 3 sets brought from girlsbike2 tried and tested, you can even wash them and their still waterproof just don't add conditioner :)
My son has the mens version just as good as the womens!
Jackets around £120 -£150 trouser about £90 - £120

Another vote for the HG Cruise suit- totally waterproof:D

I had the shelltex version of the Cruise before I got the Goretex and it was also totally waterproof but not as comfortable to wear.

HTH.

Jemandsi......Forget buying a suit the needs to be re-proofed every couple of months.

It was lashing down this morning but my gear was dry within a couple of hrs air drying at work.

Come 5pm it was completely dry - got soaked coming home, no worries as my gear will be dry for tomorrows trip to work.

I wore it all through the last winter and didnt re-proof it once and I'm sure it will handle this winter as well. Still looks new.

Wish I had bought this stuff years ago - as it would a have saved a packet in the long run.

Buy the best "RUKKA"....for get the REST.

Goretex has always failed for me after some usage including Dainese £500 gear. It's a weak material and doesn't suffer abrasion. Buy a £20-30 oversuit and pull it over the top when it starts raining. By the time the rain has stopped it wont have built up noticeable condensation anyway.

Snoops

I,ll second that Snoopy. Iv,e had a cheap "Spada" Oversuit for about 6 years now and recently have been thinking of a second mortgage to finance one of the "State of the Art" All Season Textile Jacket/Trouser combinations such as Rukka Armax or H.G. Master. (But having been caught out the other day in one of the "August Downpores" I stopped as the Black clouds threatened, slipped on my Spada and continued home through 45 minutes of torentional rain and flooded B1257 Helmsley / Stokesley arriving home bone dry apart from a wet neck. The Spada was dry in 10 minutes hanging on the washing line.) I,m having a re-think. £800 to over £1000 versus a quick stop to slip on my cheap Spada. For me it,s a no brainer. But each to his/her own.

Thanks for the info Guys, with the way my accounts are looking I think I am going to purchase an over suit in the short term, and look for a goretx suit in the longer term, who knows I may end up forgetting the new suit!

...you can still buy the Rukka A-Tech suit - much cheaper than the Armax.

Buying quality is better in the long run - I have pile of shagged cheapo jackets in my attic that lasted 12months or more.

Then again - if you are only driving even now and then during the summer then its no so important.....:augie:augie

Another vote for the HG Cruise.
Kept me dry during the recent torrents
Skin felt a bit cold – especially my a**se which felt wet but wasn’t - after the outer cordura layer soaked through but the goretex membrane does the biz in keeping you dry.
HG have an 0% APR offer on at present I think if spending more than £200
:)

Weise kit got some great reviews in ride magazine the other month.

It was the best suit given its price (cheapest) and performance (up at the top)

what's the warmest you can wear the cruise? I'm in London at the moment. Heading out to HG on Clapham road to try this suit on. It gets pretty warm where I live in the states. 90's...

https://jsaccessories.co.uk/ best for discounted bike gear currently selling Frank Thomas Aquaforce jackets for £100 mates got one and he thinks its the dogs for the price, thinking of getting one myself as my Belstaffs now leaking.

Aerostich.

Now done 50k miles in my 2 piece and was bone dry even in the recent flood conditions. Need to diet a tad to fit into my newer Hi-viz 1 piece :blast

Rev'It Cayenne Pro c.£300......even with goretex liner in place I wore it in Greece etc in very hot conditions. All zips open ( on the jacket that is), and worked a treat. Kept me dry in thunder storms too, so gets my thumbs up!
