I've had enough of HG stuff not being up to the job. The latest being a goretex jacket that I bought over a year ago. It has the dreadful Gore Lock out 'zip' which I now have to lubricate every two weeks. But this morning I noticed that it is now cutting up on the inside which is causing it to snag. It clearly won't last long at this rate.

I've used HG kit for more than 10 years now and put up with shoddy zips and various other poor quality issues. While they seem to have a never ending stream of offers and sales these days, the prices are mad and I'm not sure that I trust their kit to work anyway. Plus I'm not convinced by their customer service either.

So I'm probably on the look for a new 3 season / all weather suit. Or at least a jacket that has a zip that's compatible with the HG trousers that I have.

I don't need anything too fancy / expensive. It needs to keep the rain out and offer enough venting if it ever gets hot up here! Then again, I don't want anything that looks too dull either!

Any good recommendations on what to look at or indeed half decent shops in the Edinburgh area?

Thanks

Kai

We've only invited one local motorcycle clothing retailer along to this -

Forth Gear - www.forthgear.co.uk

As you know they're only a couple of hundred yards away from me but they go out of their way to provide excellent customer service and they stock an excellent range of quality products in their "Aladdin's Cave" on the High Street.

They also happen to sell what is, arguably, the best value for money range of motorcycle clothing on sale at the moment - Halvarssons.

So, leave work early one night in near future, preferably before I disappear off to the USA for three weeks, this coming Monday and we can take a wee stroll along so that you can discuss getting a nice new jacket with Jackie in the shop. Sorted....:thumb

Thanks Mike, that looks more like it price wise. What time are they open until? The website still has winter times!

It's probably best to wait until mid/late July as I'll be away off the the Alps soon. (A spot of mountain biking to be done ... :D).

Hmmm....good point. I'm reliably informed that for a customer of your standing, a personal appointment can be offered to accommodate Sir's busy schedule. :thumb2

Sounds good ... but also expensive.

I had a similar experience in Jodhpur some years ago and ended up buying a couple of carpets! Mind you, they are very nice carpets.

I'll be in touch next month then. Thanks.

No, you don't need to wear your jodhpurs to your private appointment - Jackie might like that far too much, if she thought they were part of some kind of uniform. I'm sure that's the only reason they supply local Police forces with bike clothing....;)

If Rukka takes your fancy as suggested by Montydog above, they also supply that....:D

Rukka.......buy it and forget about buying owt else for a good many years
