Gorge du Tarn

Right, I think the restaurant was called Au Jeu de Paume. I will get confirmation of this later, I hope. In all seriousness, this was one of the best restaurants I've ever eaten in - it was lively, friendly, and the food was brilliant.

Hi everyone, thanks for your help so far. A plan of sorts comes together:

10th April - Calais to Riders Rest
11th April- Riders Rest to Carcassone overnight Carcassone
12th April - sights Carcassone area overnight Carcassone
13th April - Carcassone-Millau and Gorge du Tarn overnight Millau
14th April - Millau North as far as we can get
15th April - last leg to Calais for a train at about 3pm

So, looking for recommendations for place to stay in Carcassone and Millau, would rather not do chain hotels if possible, and if anyone has a recommendation for a good days ride (400mile+) from Millau on the way home that would be great:thumb2

Doh!:blast

April, not May

Stayed here for a couple of nights at the end of last year. Great log cabins and decent restaurant on the site. Not long built so was very new.

Easy walk into town, great views, very bike friendly. Easy access to the roads around and under the bridge, the visitor centre is 10 mins away.

This was the view from my chalet:

Back at home now.....

Aha, I see what has happened.

In a hurry to help I sent you to the wrong thread, sorry. :blast:blast:blast

Go to Central France.

Select the route based on Florac. It is a figure of eight, so I broke it up. It goes along the Gorges du Tarne, from Florac, past Quezac to Millau and back to Florac.

As a penance for my gross stupidity, I have attached a fresh file with the Gorge du Tarne and the Florac route merged into one.

Cheers,

Richard

I might not agree with you setting Big Ben Wapping , but you sure are a very helpful bugger :thumb:D

The clock thing they will never sort out, sadly. Or at least probably not in our life time.

It is daft but a quirk of our geography, little more. I think, in truth, we are jealous of the Jock's light evenings.

My sister is married to an arable farmer in Warwickshire, so near enough the heart of England. He has no advantage in it being light at 03:00 in late July or August, as it is too damp to combine properly, despite modern blowers and dryers (using very expensive gas). He wants it light in the late evening, to avoid cutting under big arc lights. We, in the City, would love to be on the same time as our colleagues in Europe and go home to BBQ until 11 pm.

Maybe double summer time from May to September would be a happy compromise?

The two bedroom cabins, are they twin beds or is it a double? Don't fancy top and tailing with a smelly footed fecker :D
