I've got a lovely 1150 GSA which I've had for nigh on ten years and I don't want to get rid of it, BUT i have a real hankering to splash on a new(ish) 1250RT.
I also have a Harley, but that's a toy .
My indecision is partly because the GSA has been my main bike for so long, would I actually use both?
Is there that much of a difference that I could justify having another bike?

Change my mind...

If you’ve got the money and the space go for it. If you don’t like it sell it on. If you do like it sell the1150, or keep them both.
Make sure you buy at the price, that way the money hasn’t gone, it’s just been converted. It can be converted back at anytime. That’s how I justify it to myself.
Life’s too short, enjoy it while you can!

I’ll give you £1500 for the GSA. :D

Sadly, the GSA probably isn't worth that much now, being a 2003 model, so financially no motivator to sell or trade.
But to me, it's a fabulous and capable bike and will hopefully will give me many more years of service.
I'm still no nearer justifying another bike...

1250 RT is horrid.
Why not get a mint 1200RT which looks better, is more comfortable and will save you a packet ?

Why is it ? Thought ours was ok.

What he said, the last of the 1200's (twin cam) is undoubtedly the best boxer ever made, and I have a 1200RT for sale...

Have an R1250GSA but I can justify buying and owning a 1999 R1150GS (which I use a lot more in the UK )

I’ve recently sold my 1250GSA in favour of an 1150GSA I picked up in December. The last time I rode the 1250 was when I first looked at the 1150 before purchasing. Take what you will from that :beerjug:

If I were you and the itch needs scratching, buy The smudgers 1200 and see how you fare. It's 90% of the 1250 for a quarter of the cash and you'll not lose much if you find you didn't like it/didn't use it.

1200 is not 90% of a 1250 , more like 97% on a bad day
