Guys,

Has any of you changed your standard screen to an aftermarket one and are you willing to sell the standard screen?

I think mine is too big and I want to cut it a bit, but I'd rather to that to a 2nd screen..

But then again I doubt that any of you who have changed the OE screen would actually want to get rid of the OE one...

... But if I don't ask, I won't know...

Hi Joker,
Can't help with a spare screen, but tell us how you get on if you take a saw to yours.

I'm also coming to the conclusion that I need to reduce the screen height, so that the wind blast hits me in my shoulders and my helmet in is clear air.

Have fitted Tobinators and they do the job of reducing the buffeting, but I can't get the screen low enough without the bars starting to foul the screen.

Like you I'm reluctant to hack the screen in case I screw it up or don't like the result. Am currently going to wait a few months to see if anyone brings out a lower one.

cheers,
harv

Mr Harv, you've spotted my exact problem. I'm using Tobinators too, and while they do the job perfectly. I still can't get the screen low enough without a huge racked from the bars touching the screen. And, even if I'd get the bars to move freely, I think the screen is rapidly aiming in at my chin, i.e it's too close to my 'eeed. Need to chop off a bit.

I'll make sure to document it when I start dremelling... :D

Can't help you with a screen but I did cut mine way down since it was already damaged from a drop. I run a Cee Bailey's with Tobinators for the winter months but will go back to the cut stock screen when it gets warm again. The stock screen is actually pretty cheap $79.00 US. I would suggest cutting down an inch or so at a time until you get it where you want it. I just used a jig saw on slow speed and cleaned up the edges with a file and some fine sand paper and it looks good. I may paint it black before I put it on again

Hey David,

I sourced a used OE screen this weekend. I've cut it by 35mm at the top, and cut the sides so that the bars don't touch it. It's currently in it's function-before-form state where I want to see if I'm to cut it down further or in general if it works before making it into a nice shape and polishing up the edges. :beerjug: Piccies and "report" to come. :D

Harv and Joker, got to say a big Me Too. Tonibators fitted and have improved things but I still have unacceptable wind turbulence unless I'm on max height front and lowest height rear so even moderate lock is a problem.
Currently I'm on 3 up front and 3 down rear which is the best compromise but I'm now looking for another screen as well - but haven't decided whether to go higher or lower! Both my old 1100GS and 1150 GS benefitted from bigger screens (tried everything even no screen on both) but I never did get it right and that's what worries me. I love the 1200 to bits but can't live with the buffeting long term.
