Just a few pics of my 1st 'big bike' Picked it up Friday and covered about 200 miles so far. Compared to my old 125 it goes like stink, still trying to get used to it/confidence. Wondering if i should have went with lowered seat, oh well, too late now :blast

Things i want to add to it:
Front fender extender
Rear hugger
Larger screen (unsure which yet, looking at threads on here)
Possibly panniers but no real hurry.

Any advice for an aching right wrist? well both of them really (and its not due to the obvious lol).

Nice bike Buz.

If you get the answer to the aching wrist, i'd like to know.
I have a Kaoko throttle lock which allows me to lock the throttle and stretch my right hand and restart the curculation. (i brought straight from SA with no issues). I waited a month before getting this to get used to the bike first.

Happy new bikie - such a great feeling

Enjoy the bling / pimp my bike shopping spree :D (I'm on my 2nd screen, have hand guards, crash bars and panniers :thumb)

Nice bike mate, and great to hear you're enjoying it, shame about the wrists though.

Actually I've just noticed something very wrong with your bike. . . .

It's too clean! :D

Thats because its only a couple of days old and other than the track where pics were taken thats the only off road its done!! Cant see it staying like that for long tho :thumb

At least you've done more miles than me mate, I've only managed 70 so far. Crap weather on Saturday, just managed a couple of hours on Sunday, and I've been ill all day today!

Have you ...

... got small hands ? Jaq found the reach to the brake lever giving her problem; sorted with a Variolever :thumb2 As for a larger screen, the BMW option comes with a bracing bar, which many aftermarket ones don't :augie

Sorry about the crap angle !

Thanks Oblertone, i've adjusted the brake levers, but I also had the same problem with my 125, theres a thread on here where they mention Carpal Tunnel Syndrome, or summat like that, ossibly not helped by working with a pc all day...then on here as well...

I'll have to look at the larger screens, trouble is theres so many of them out there and i dare say the BM one will be a tad expensive!!! :augie

the scottoiler crampbuster or variations on that theme will get rid of the wrist ache on the right. The wrist ache on the left will disappear once you get used to the bigger bike. You will gain strength and confidence and thus relax.

I bought a wunderlich vario clutch lever after I modified my original clutch lever (I dropped the bike and snapped it off) :augie

There is a tendency to feel like Nat on the back of a rhino after going from a 125 but this too will pass. :thumb

As Paul says, the Variolevers were a godsend for me....we've just ridden down to Malaga and back....no sore wrists....just a numb bum instead!....:D

Btw, Buz....nice to see that you too have gone for the best (and fastest) colour....:)....:bounce1

I am intrigued. I haven't yet tried to adjust my clutch lever from stock settings. Before I go and attempt to do so, and screw everything up, is there much difference to be gained from the standard ?
I am not having the best of times from a standing start with the clutch, as I am used to a more gentle lever from my previous bike, which I am hoping that adjustment of the lever will help get me close to what I am after.
If not, just how good are these Wanderlich and AC Schnitzer levers ? For you guys who already have them, would they solve my issues, or am I gonna be stuck with strained hands/wrists until I get tougher ?

Rob,
Makes a change for me to offer advice, i'm usually asking it!!!
It's easy to adjust the levers, if you follow the lever back to the handle grip you will see a small screw, mine is black. All you do is push the lever away from the handle bars (opposite way to squeezing them) then adjust the screw, I think unscrewing it makes the gap smaller and screwing it in widens the gap, if not its the opposite! I adjusted mine as far as it would go and I think it has improved the reach for me. The other levers people mention cost about 70 quid so is worth trying this way 1st, you never know it just might work.
Let me know how you get on.
Cheers
Pete :thumb

If you cant make sense of that let me know, i'll get me manual out and type it word for word :clap

Or could be tendonitis / tenosovinitis (sp?) - I coach kayaking and many folks suffer from sore wrists - they're mostly caused by gripping too tightly. As everywherevirtually said - once you relax you'll lose the sore wrists - you probably won't realise how tightly you are gripping - so in the meantime just try and remember to relax your hands every now and then - also drop your shoulders and think of your arms connecting back down to your lower back as you are riding. Stand up on the pegs / have a good wriggle about / shift your riding position even for a few seconds - all helps with less soreness later :)

Cheers Pete,
I've found the stuff in the manual ! Apologies for being a numpty and not looking in the obvious palce ! :augie
I'll give it a try for the weekend.
Bob
