Back as an GS airhead owner. :)

Just done the deal with my mate for very nice 1995 R100 GS Dakar.
The bike was (apparently) one of the last ones produced and was registered in 1995. Current owner has had it since about 2000.

In black with 19,221 miles on the clock. Ohlins rear shock (was that standard on this model ?) with BMW side cases and Givi top box. Spotlights mounted on crashbars, heated grips and new exhaust collector box fitted recently.

General condition is not bad for the year, not 100% but what you would reasonably expect from a bike that is nearly 15 years old. Tyres have a few thousand miles in them.

I pick it up in two weeks time.:)

Not over keen on black paint work, but I may change that.

Now sorted for Proff's weekend in June.

Good news and looking forward to seeing some photos.
What you going to do with the one Keith sold you? :D

Good on ya Sid :thumb2:thumb2
You did bugger all but talk about this bike yesterday, glad it's all come right :bounce1

Now are WE collecting it or are you having it delivered ????

Also have you told Anne yet :augie:wife:wife:goodnight:eh

Nope

Givi top box.

Get rid off it - not on an airhead GS never :nono :rob

Spotlights mounted on crashbars

No mention of the uprated alternator so unless they are some whizzy low wattage jobbies, get rid or get ready to push your bike :D

And if that is a PD Classic that would be a crying shame to repaint it. The best of the Paralevers.

And I can't believe the old man of Okehampton has allowed his two apprentices to buy Paralevers :D

Thanks for comments. To answer the questions:

No pictures available yet. Might be able to get some emailed to me or else wait two weeks.

The R80/7 is currently being rebuilt as a bike for Ann (with no "e") to learn on. I'm planning to restore it to excellent condition but with spare tank and mudguard painted up in bright pink for when Ann rides it.:)

Not sure if I'll take this one to the Gambia or use my 1100. Have to put some miles on it and see which I prefer loaded up. However, this one is called a Dakar so it kind of seems right to take it there. :D

I'm flying over to Jersey to collect it on Tuesday 27th January and coming back on ferry a few days later.

No, I haven't told Ann yet, still working on that one. Its going to cost me a few grands worth of stable improvements.

Judge, thanks for comments. Might fit topbox to /7. How easy would it be to get an uprated alternator?

Sid

Finally mentioned to wife that I've bought another bike. She wanted to know why. I suggested I needed it for the trip to The Gambia next January.

"What trip to The Gambia next January?????" she then asked. Oh dear, didn't I mention that either...

Later, I got passed a copy of this months Horse & Hound mag with the adverts for nags for sale and her pointing out a very expensive horse. "Erh, isn't that twice the budget you were going to spend on a horse dear?" I asked. "Yes it is" she replied...

I was going to ask if ann had found a horse yet, tell her all the ones ive seen havent been expensive enuff!!!

Do the braces work or are they just for show? My 100/7 doesn't handle anywhere near as well as the bike I sold to Shapeshifter even though it's got the same front end and Koni's.

I recall mention somewhere that stays could be made from Jaguar (old XJ6 ?) innerwing to slam panel stays. You brazed a couple of lugs on the frame and bolted them in.
In the 80s when BM used to do fab launches..wine, sandwiches etc, I remember that when a large 'club' contingent took all the bikes out everyone complained that the 100/7s were for some reason the most ill handling of the bunch.

Picked it up yesterday in sunny Jersey. Dealer had it parked outside and someone had called in and offered to buy it for £1,500 MORE than I just paid for it. Think I got a bit of a bargain:). Its black with silver decals, R100GS on side of tank and "PD" and "Classic" on top. Sorry can't get any photos yet as I forgot to bring my camera over with me.

Bike is ex-UK and has all the MOTs from Rainbow motorcycles when it was on an N registration. Hopefully, I won't have to pay VAT when re-registering it. Going to take it out for a good ride this afternoon but a bit limited by the 9 miles by 5 miles size of Jersey.

Front brake being single disc is a bit dodgy and can hopefully be improved. Bike just needs a good clean up and a full service. Might have to pay a visit to St.Eptoe for some of his TLC.

Very pleased with my purchase.
