Just picked up my new Global Lid equipped Panniers from Motorworks today and I'm very pleased with their service and price - top place.
Now I'll have 2 sets of panniers - the standard set for weekend/day trips and the larger Global Panniers for longer European trips.
First impressions are that they're a lot bigger than the standard ones and wider too,but no wider than the handlebars.
How does everybody else get on with their larger panniers.

What's the best UK price for standard BMW panniers and also what's the cost of Global lids - just to check it really is a good deal..........?????????

Hi Johnnyboxer,

You're right, the Globals are wiiiiide!!, but do hold a hell of a lot more.

Got mine from my dealer for £50......a very "SPECIAL" deal, suggested by him, as my Bike was a week or two late on delivery :(

A very nice man our Ross :D

Hope all is well in the White Rose County and that these new lids don't mean you are looking to make an escape north!! :D

did you forget about vernon

Too large and permanent for my requirements, but I must say if you want a set of ally boxes, they look extremely well made and sturdy

All's well here - in Yorks.
CC,did you have a problem with the sealing rubbers being fouled on opening and closing with the new lids.........I've had to file away the moulding marks on the underside of the Global lids to stop this.
BTW I paid £295 for a complete set of new panniers made up with Global lids.
Comprising of the complete lot - locks (to match),locking mechanism, pannier backs,Global lids, badges and rubber strips.
A good deal I thought, when new standard panniers cost about £280 - £350,depending on where you purchase.
So now I've 2 sets of panniers , the new larger Global lid equipped set and an original set of standard panniers.
When I decide which I like best,I may sell the ones I don't want.

Now that you mention the seal..............

I did notice on one of the Panniers that one was getting a wee bit damp at the bottom, not to worried at the time as I had a set of "Mane Event" inner bags.

I'll check it out later.

I thought that I would be changing between the two sets of lids at first, well it is only a few nuts and bolts.

In reality, I just use the "Fat Bastard" Lids all the time now........keeps SWMBO happy too;)

I felt the same about a set of Verns..........great looking but too permanent for a "Mileage Introvert" :p

Sent you a PM requesting your email address - if you pass it on I can send two scans of a piece I wrote for Superbike in 88 on touring the pyrennees - got the roads I was on about to you in the piece. Too big to post here (750K), and no one would want to read it ;) . See the PM and drop me a line to receive the details . Cheers, Fritz
