That one looks great too, well done smudger :comfort

They all look good from up top ebbo......

But alas its not the same story under the tupperware. Still, the summers fucked so I now have something to do in the garage while its raining :D:D:D:D

Not as bad as I make it sound. I plan to do a picture by picture of what I'm doing.

1. Plastics/tank off, assess the damage (corrosion, usual stuff)

Fit new battery. Glad I kept the spare one I removed from the police 1200 RT i bought now :D.

The battery is knackered. Usual signs, struggles to start, ABS lights flash, then turn it off after 10 mins & the lights go out......:blast

2. Rear frame is quite scabby, already bought one of eblag (35 quid delivered ), sent off to a local powder coaters to be 'done' (50 quid, its a small frame!), about 3 hours to fit (2 of us). Poss renew paralever and swing arm bearings while its off (make use of the parts discount at work !:D)
3. Remove front forks/telelever & re-paint.(drill out & re-tap front mudguard screws :blast)
4. Remove front engine cover/rocker covers & re-paint.
5. De-scab & repaint heads/barrels/cases in situ as best as poss.

Should look a whole lot better after that! The brake hoses will need renewing, but the metal pipes are surprisingly good. Front & rear disc's are in good condition and the clutch was renewed 10k mls ago. The engine, although its done 116k mls, sounds like a japanese sewing machine :D:D....AND, it has one of those carbon fibre fenda-extenda thing's.....:rolleyes:

All in all it's not a bad bike, MOT'd till next February and taxed till September. A fair amount of dealer S/H plus a mile of invoices from a Cardiff independent.

I'll keep you all posted.

Steve.

Nice :thumb2

once you've sorted the grott under her skirts you will have a great bike enjoy :beerjug:

Just noticed it has a Cee Baileys Euro screen & head guards like this one.

This is what I hope it will look like after the fettling...

Smudger,

How are you going to tackle the painting? rattle can or get the bits sprayed By a pro? After 117k mines prob in the same condition!

Simon

Rattle a can!

I would only ever pay someone to paint the fairings.

EasyRider on here did his own, I've done a few bits with a spray can and in the right conditions/temperature etc you will surprise yourself!

Where are you Simon? I'm nr Trowbridge. Perhaps when I start mine you can come over and take a look mate?

Cheers,

Steve.

Smudger,

Thanks for the offer! I'm down in Somerset on the Levels.

Like you I have got a list of stuff to be done, including a head gasket on the left hand cylinder. Although been trying to ignore that one due to he state of the exhaust studs!

Although to date I have refurbed the brakes, new exhaust, new rear shock. Might have to be a winter project,

Simon

Bit of a set back.

Supposed to be collecting the RT Sunday, phoned the chap today, and it wont start :blast

The guy is looking into it, he thinks it might be the hall sensors, apparently there is no spark.

I tried a search on here but cant find anything concrete/what i need, does 1 do ign and 1 inj?

The bike had been sitting for about 10 days, I looked at it before and it started on the button, sounded sweet, he tried to start it yesterday and it just churns over, would a HES do this?

Physician heal thyself ................ :toungincheek

All I can comment on hall sensors is when one of the two sensors failed on my mates 1100RT he still had sparks and fuel injection, but it would not start - New sensor plate fixed it. Don't know which sensor it was, I hadn't the sense to pick up the duff part and being it home

So, if you can see sparks and fuel being injected don't assume the hall sensors are ok
