Ed,

Whether you decide a pda is your choice, Aldi say you get in the kit .. car fixture with suction cap and bike fixture. Its the last bit 'bike fixture' that needs a closer look as will it fit onto the GS - I would be surprised. All too often after a Sunday impulse buy, I get ask to waive a magic RAM wand for a cradle to hold the things. I assume there a power lead you can butcher onto the bike as well. The mount part is easier.

It's a Medion system, similar to their MDNPA100 which comes with the same extra bits. I've got the MDPNA mounted to the handle bar brace on a R1150GS, using the supplied bike mount and it works OK. The supplied weather cover works well, I've used mine in some very heavy rain without problem. I bought a cigarette lighter socket and mounted that under the seat behind the battery and use the suppied power lead routed under the tank to the bars.

The built in MP3 player is also a joy on the bike, great to have music on the move. A 1Gb SD card holds all the maps I'll ever need on a trip plus 8 hours or so on music (I also have 2 500mb SD cards that I use for ebooks, extra maps & more music)

For £150 I think it is good value, excellent in a car and OK on the bike. Saying that I am now thinking of a getting a Garmin Quest or 2610 for the bike to give better weather protection and hopefully a screen that is easier to read in strong sunlight.

I was wondering if this is just a pocket pc?! Could you install Tom Tom 5 onto it?! Or do I buy a streetpilot 3 for the same price?
