Can anyone tell me which type of coordinate this is, Im trying to find it on Mapsource but tells me its an incorrect longitude or latitude.

GPS Co-ordinates:
Start: N 48.0639, E 7.02251
End: N 47.9229, E 7.03109

Its a road somewhere in France. found on www.bestbikingroads.com

best regards
Allan

You're missing out a DOT (.) on the minutes by the look of it.

Try something like 47.**.***

Mapsource takes either one or two places for degrees, followed by two places for minutes, followed by up to three places for the seconds if I remember.

So 7.**.*** is ok as is 07.**.** but not 07.***.* if that makes sense

Looks like it is degrees and decimal degrees (HDDD.DDDD)

Normally latitude and longitude positions are given in degrees, minutes and decimal minutes (HDDD MM.MMM)

Yep, agreed, I think it will take one or two digits for degrees (7 or 07) , mandatory two digits for minutes (02 not 2), then either 2 or 3 digits for decimal degrees (.222) but would also accept .22

I set opened the preferences and under the position tab set the grid to Lan/Lon hddd.ddddd with a datum of WGS 84, actually the datum was already set to that so I just left it alown.

The coordinates now work so long as I take the coma out like N48.06390 E7.02251

I had the grid set to OS national grid but don’t know what the default setting should be. Can some tell me what the default grid and datum should be.?

by the way www.bestbikingroads.com , could be better if people uploaded track logs.

The coordinates suggest this road in NE France:

Gary, ye thanks I got it in the end.

Im hoping to get over to EU land next year and it was just interesting to see where some of these roads were. Call me sad if you like but I like looking at maps.
