Ok folks now its in the correct thread section.

Have bought a second hand GPS 60c and tried to use it with my own registered copy of mapsource that I had on a Street pilot 111 and it is not unlocking the maps for me. Message also comes up on the unit that "cannot unlock maps" I have also tried to register it with garmin but of course it comes up as an already regsitered unit so stuck as to what to do next. Any advice please. Need the unit pretty soon for a cycle tour of Wales and then Lakes etc.

Just had a quick look on Garmins' site and the only Euro map the Streetpilot 111 is recommended for use with is City Navigator Europe - so presumably this is what you've got?

If so, then a look at the GPSMAP 60c page shows that it [60c] is not recommended for use with City Nav Europe [Austrialia and Mid East only] but City Select Europe.

Garmin will need to be informed of the change of ownership (for the 60c) so they can update their database. Once this is done you should be able to obtain your free second unlock code for the City Navigator mapping software (that came with the SPIII) and apply it to the 60c... this is providing the SPIII is registered in your name and you haven't already used the second unlock code.

Obviously phone will be quickest but I seem to recall I had to email or fax the change of ownership details.

I think that this has to come from the person Garmin has registered as the owner (otherwise you could have just half-inched it!).

Have had the unlock details and as far as I am concerned Ollie Stone at Garmin is a saint. All seesm to work great except for the USB which means transferring maps is a long process but IT WORKS. :thumb :clap :bounce1 :D
