I have a BMW navigator (streetpilot 3), i know very little about PCs/GPS, but i've got to grips with it and use it all the time now. Spend some time reading the manuals and it really is quite simple.

It isn't so complicated after all. You have essentially three alternatives.

Quest
Is what you should buy if you want a portable (battery) unit that you can use while walking around Rome or Paris. Limited (but quite OK) memory for maps.

276C
Is the best for several reasons. But it is expensive. Also it's memory cards are very expensive. Buy this one if you are person with unlimited funds.

2610
Has some negative sides but the price, including a large memory for maps, is reasonable. I would buy this one.

For prices check www.aspidshop.com and www.sportextreme.com.

I ended up buying the 276C from www.askdirect.co.uk as the price(460) was the best uk based(Tottenham Court Road retail outlet)and their price for 256mb cards(110) was also good. Aspid got my vote for the autonav kit at 238.

You may see and select from the mounting arrangements in the GPS section.

Best price for the 2610 package I have seen is on the Maplin website at 499 when you subscribe to their newsletter and get the discount voucher.

Enjoy.

in my personal view the 2610 and a 2gb smart card is the one to go for just download all europe onto one card and forget about it,, i had the streetpilot 111 previously and the 2610 was the natural step farward,,no problems after 11 months use with the 2610 and £600 cheaper than the BMW offering.:beerjug:

276C

HMR is spot on, I have a BMW Navigator and with hindsight I would now have the 276C without any doubt, its a much better display than the 2610 and its the fastest processsor of the range, Yes it uses garmin cards but they have dropped in price and the 276C can hold 2 of them.
The Automotive kit makes it better than the 2610.

Asipshop.com is the place.

I have both the Ique 3600 and the 2610, and having read the data and info on the 276c I'd buy that.

It offers all that the Ique does, with the robustness and ease of use of the 2610.

Cant comment on mounting costs but hey, you gets what you pays for.
