Ok folks I apologise in advance for the lack of detail in my question but I'm hopefull this is going to be obvious to any experienced user.

My mate (Varadero owner :ymca. . . . ;-) )has just updated the software and maps on his Garmin 2610 for the 1st time. He now reckons that the actual pointer is about 200 feet offset from where he actually is on the map.

Obviously that is an big issue with directions in urban areas. We were hoping to use the GPS in france on the weekend so it's all a bit last minute.

Tried to get the manual off the Garmin site but there is none for the 2610 as far as I can see.

Does anyone know how I can recalibrate the position to the maps or whatever else might be wrong?

Cheers

It sounds like he hasn't transferred the maps across properly or hasn't got them selected for use on the unit. He's running on the base map.

E-Mail me at markie underscore wales at hotmail dot com and I'll send you the user manual in pdf.

Agree with Whatto, and IIRC there is some type of "snap to road" setting, but damned if I could find it in the manual - perhaps it was a software update?

cheers

Markie
