Help need!

My company has very kindly supplied me with a new HP iPAQ 5500 and i was wondering if anybody would be kind enough to recommmend/help with the following

1. A compatible GPS ( & speed camera detector?) System that i can use in car and on my bike (gs12)

2. What are the costs?

3. Where can i get the best deal?

4. What kit do i need to adapt fitting for my bike and where do i get it?

5. Has anyboy experience of the Roadrama system?

I am a complete novice in this area so all help would be greatly appreciated.

thanks

Tony

I use a RAM mount, not sure who stock it in the UK. Get a short arm to help stop the inevitable oscillation that comes from a longer attachment arm. If waterproofing is a priority, you might like to consider an otterbox especially made for the IPAQ's. I have never bothered as the windshields blocks it on my 1150 GS Adv.

Hi Sancheto,

I'm going through the same process as you at the moment (ipaq pch4100 withbluetooth)

Heading towards otterbox, autocom, plus gps reciever & mapping.
(currently trying to source a gps reciever that will plug directly into the pda sdio slot so i can easily transfer the lot to the car)

Will post what i find out.

Hi,

You ask:
4) What kit do i need to adapt fitting for my bike and where do i get it?

For the iPAQ 55xx , suggest looking at the RAM-HOL-CO2 cradle as it has extended sprung loaded arm - better getting in/out and does not depress/hold down volume button on the side. to attach on the bike try the Migsel solution or a RAM-B-149 U -bolt mount.

Waterproof and otter boxes look at the web link page www.otterbox.com/

The Otterbox uses some RAM parts plus a strap bar (KIT-012) which attaches onto the RAM diamond base (RAM-B-238) which is part of most mount kits.

Regards,

RAM-man
